Offer Description The missions of the post-doctoral researcher (M/F) are dedicated to the development of advanced catalysts for the mechanosynthesis of ammonia. Its role will be to develop one or more methodologies for the production of nitrides and intermetallics based on transition metals and to evaluate their physicochemical properties for the ammonia synthesis reaction.
The researcher (M/F) will be required to train thesis students in the preparation and proper use of such materials. The researcher (M/F) will be required to promote his results during (i) internal seminars in the laboratory, (ii) during external national and/or international conferences, and (iii) publication in international peer-reviewed journals.
- The preparation of "benchmark" catalysts will make it possible to quickly start mechanosynthesis activities and optimize the operating conditions of such a process.
- Development of nitride-type catalysts based on transition metals already identified in the literature but which will need to be reproduced and optimized at the UCCS laboratory.
- Physico-chemical characterization of the solids obtained (DRX, BET, SEM, HR TEM, ICP, RPE, XPS...).
- Participation in the development of a mechanosynthesis assembly.
- Carrying out catalytic tests for nitrogen activation (thermocatalysis and mechanocatalysis).
- Writing scientific articles.
- Training of students in the synthesis of nitrides and intermetallics.
The UCCS is a research unit affiliated with the CNRS (UMR 8181) and includes 300 permanent and non-permanent staff spread across different sites of the Faculty of Science and Technology. The UCCS has the advantage of being integrated into different platforms allowing easy access to conventional characterization techniques (DRX, BET, XPS, ICP, SEM, etc.) and solid thrusts (STEM-HAADF, NAP XPS, TOF-SIMS...).
The research project of the postdoctoral researcher (M/F) is part of the ANR MECAMMONIA of which UCCS is coordinator (J.P. Dacquin, MATCAT Team). This project will be structured around 3 research sites (UCCS, IC2MP (Poitiers), and IBMM (Montpellier)) which will allow the smooth running of the scientific aspect of the project (Materials Preparation (UCCS), Mechanosynthesis (IBMM), Mechanism (IC2MP)).
The MATCAT research team has extensive expertise in the synthesis and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts, and has recently been developing nitride and electride catalysts. The working environment of the postdoctoral researcher (M/F) will allow him to use the know-how and technical specificities of partner laboratories in order to elucidate the reaction mechanism of the synthesis of ammonia by mechanochemical route.
- Ability to communicate well in a research team.
- Carry out a synthesis in an unconventional environment.
- Independently characterize the physicochemical properties of a solid.
- Actively participate in different laboratory tasks.
- Write a scientific article independently.
- Communicate your results with rigor and pedagogy.
