Offer Description The post-doc will lead a project aimed at characterizing the structure and function of oligomers of vinculin, a cell adhesion protein induced by the IpaA protein of the Shigella bacteria by cryo-electron microscopy. The recruited person will validate the data by mutational analysis and functional tests in in vitro culture models of epithelial cells by quantitative fluorescence microscopy, as well as in purified protein systems.
The main research theme of the department concerns the characterization of the integrated functioning of the cell and in particular the understanding of the processes which, at the molecular level, govern the organization and overall physiology of the cell. Researchers carry out their work on different organisms (from viruses to human cells) or on complexes reconstituted in vitro, at different scales and under various physiological conditions. The Department of Cellular Biology within the I2BC includes eight teams which study the molecular actors and mechanisms which govern biogenesis, the organization and maintenance of specialized structures and compartments of the cell, intracellular trafficking and exchanges between compartments, the actin cytoskeleton in physiological and pathological conditions. The CaSMI (Calcium signaling and Microbial Infections) team associated with the Department of Cellular Biology studies the interactions between pathogenic bacteria and host cell leading to the crossing of the intestinal barrier in the case of the enteroinvasive bacteria Shigella.
