Offer Description Work Plan: The PhD Researcher will carry out the tasks envisaged for the project, listed below, liaising with the project's partners, collaborating in the production of reports and other relevant documentation in the context of the development of the scheduled activities, as well as participating in events to present the project's results. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks:
Analysing data from patient samples to identify clinical parameters, relevant cell populations, and glycosidic markers, using various data including proteomics.
Validate data from patient samples using microscopy techniques.
Develop in vitro models to extrapolate tumour development and signalling pathways observed in patients bearing glycoside markers.
Develop in vitro models to identify immunological parameters associated with glycosidic alterations in cancer.
Test the therapeutic efficacy of biological compounds or small molecules in disease models with altered glycosidic expression.
In addition, the candidate will be expected to work as part of a team to provide support for the following tasks:
Monitoring work progress and ensuring compliance with strategic planning and the Project Manual.
Data sharing and interaction between the various project partners and management bodies.
Preparing documents (e.g., reports) for submission to the Foundation for Science and Technology.
Communication related to the project in liaison with collaborators.
Fellowship duration: The scholarship will last for 6 months, starting in December 2024. The scholarship contract may be renewed within the duration of the project.
Application deadline and form of application submission: The competition is open from 20th November to 3rd December 2024.

Requirements Education Level: PhD or equivalent
Mandatory requirements: PhD in the area of Life Science or similar.
Preferred factors:
Candidates must not exceed a cumulative period of three years in this type of scholarship.
The host institution for the scholarship must not coincide with the institution where most of the doctoral work was conducted.
Submission of a diploma or document proving the Doctoral degree.
Specific Requirements:
Relevant and proven experience in Glycobiology in the context of scientific research projects.
Knowledge in the analysis of bioinformatic data.
Experience in microscopy techniques for tissue analysis.
Laboratory and research knowledge in vitro tests appropriate to the functions and activities of this competition.
Relevant experience in data analysis and its scientific communication.
Proficiency in a foreign language (English).
Additional Information Monthly maintenance allowance amount: €1,801.00, according to the table of values of grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P.
Selection process Selection criteria: The selection methods will include:
Curricular assessment (40%);
Professional experience in participating in R&D projects and activities relevant to the position (60%).
The interview will only be held for candidates whose score is higher than 10. After the interview, the parameters will be:
Curricular assessment will have an appreciation of 35%;
Professional experience will have an appreciation of 55%;
Interview will have an appreciation of 10%.
Form of advertising/notification of results: The evaluation results proposed by the jury will be notified via email, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list.
