REPORTS TO : Engineering Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Voice Software Engineer, you will be crucial in maintaining and optimizing our voice platform to ensure the smooth delivery of high-quality customer interactions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our VoIP infrastructure. Your ability to identify and troubleshoot problems is vital.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
Strong understanding of VoIP protocols , including SIP, SDP, and RTP, with expertise in SIP per RFC 3261.
Develop and implement solutions to address voice quality, connectivity, and other VoIP challenges.
Write and maintain code with hands-on experience in SIP Proxy and Registrar (Kamailio) and Media Server (Freeswitch) , including configuration and customization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers and support teams, to ensure smooth integration and operation of solutions.
Contribute to milestone releases and provide support for major version rollouts.
Optimize scalability, reliability, capacity, and performance with a strong focus on code and architecture improvements.
Suggest improvements for monitoring, alerting, and tracking systems to enhance platform reliability.
Document changes and share knowledge with Support and NOC teams to keep them informed of platform updates.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:
Higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications or similar.
Proven experience supporting and troubleshooting UCaaS/CCaaS systems, including VoIP.
Expertise in VoIP-related protocols (SIP, SDP, RTP).
Experience with signaling analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, sngrep, Homer).
Knowledge of scripting and automation tools.
Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage competing priorities.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience with Observability, Monitoring, Performance or Availability tools or services, preferably in the infrastructure monitoring area.
