FCCN is a unit of FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Foundation for Science and Technology) - with the primary mission of equipping the Portuguese academic and research communities with the technological means to produce excellent science and knowledge. We are committed to ensuring Technology for Knowledge. We aim to strengthen our team with a highly qualified and motivated Systems Administrator. As a Systems Administrator, you will be crucial in supporting and maintaining our internal infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Implement, configure, and maintain various systems that support our infrastructure, including authentication services, servers, networking equipment, etc; Monitor system performance, analyze and execute tasks related to optimization, scalability, evolution, and infrastructure maintenance; Automate operational tasks; Implement security measures across various systems, including patch updates and firewall configurations; Provide technical support and assistance to internal teams; Document procedures and best practices for system operations.
We are looking for people with the skills and experience described below, but especially those interested in the technological field and motivated to take on the challenge of being part of a highly specialized team and serving the education and research community, contributing to developing quality and innovative services.
Main requirements Experience in Linux system administration; Experience in administering web services (Apache and Tomcat); Knowledge in database administration, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB; Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef); Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and Bash. Nice to have Familiarity with Web Services and RESTful APIs (XML / JSON, etc.) is valued; Knowledge of programming languages in PHP and Java is valued.
