Role Overview:We're looking for an Art Director for our AAA Unreal 5 multiplayer hero shooter game. This full-time position at either our Lisbon location or timezone-friendly remote work boasts the opportunity for flexible remote work arrangements alongside a talented team from around the world. As the Art Director, you will be the owner of the visual identity and art quality of our IP and game. Working closely with, and building, a top team of artists and technical art specialists to ensure the creative vision of the game is achieved. Your focus will mainly be internal, to deliver the visual signature and brand cohesion with the Creative Director. You will be part of the Core Game Team with a focus on art quality and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:Manage all levels of members of the Art department to maintain artistic vision, team culture and ensure deliverables are met
Identify and mentor emerging talent, taking an active role in expansion as well as personnel career plans
Lead by example, instilling best practices across all studio sites and conducting regular reviews
Establish and propagate to stakeholders and teams a clear artistic vision to bring together brand identity and support gameplay.
Set the bar and maintain high quality of work – artistic and technical standards
Budget management
Ideal Candidate:Related art degree, with latest portfolio to showcase your work
5+ years' experience within the games industry, with 2-3 years as Art Director level
AAA shipped titles mobile, console, and/or PC
An understanding of workflows, particularly PBR, industry standard 3D package (Maya, 3DS Max, Photoshop, Substance, Zbrush)
Understanding of User Interface, VFX, Modelling, Character development and Animation
Experience in UE4-5, PC, console and mobile platforms
Methodical, great organization and time management skill personally and inter-personally
Demonstrable prowess leading teams internally and with external partners
Passionate for game development, ability to directly mentor hands-on with junior art contributors of all disciplines.
Strong English, written and spoken.
