We are hiring a Senior Design Architect for a company in the pharmaceutical industry.
Responsibilities: Participate in the user requirements specifications (URS) definition, understanding and supporting user needs, contributing to achieve an URS adequate for the intended use, promoting wellbeing of the users, ergonomics, and productivity during the use of the installation.
Conceive, design and implement engineering solutions on specific areas of complex engineering projects, towards successful project conclusion to achieve company established objectives.
Support Purchasing in the selection & awarding of suppliers and contractors for specific components and contracts and approve level 1 of purchase requisitions where required.
Guarantee multiple sources of equipment and services for the needs of engineering projects.
Master technical solutions for conceptual, basic and detailed projects of new complex installations or modifications to existing installations, incorporating the best engineering standards and state-of-the-art solutions.
Prepare, revise and approve technical documentation of Engineering Projects for conceptual, basic and detailed design phases.
Ensure that project documents are complete and optimal for a competitive tender process.
Review and approve the project budget & timeline, and control them during execution.
Prepare and approve Engineering Standards comprising best available and cost-effective solutions, based on proven solutions.
Supervise the construction, installation, commissioning and qualification of assigned projects, within the area of responsibility.
Coordinate the work of internal and external Engineering teams, integrating work with other specialties into the final project solution, assuring user deadlines are met and without unexpected delays in production.
Assess and manage risks of projects to ensure that installations and equipment comply with all regulatory and legal requirements while optimizing quality/cost ratio.
Execute all assigned tasks, planning and delivering on time, safely, efficiently, reliably and in a cost-effective manner.
Work with other Engineering areas and project management to resolve project issues, ensuring the delivery/completion of project work.
Capture user feedback and lessons learned for future projects.
Propose improvements (procedures, organizational, new technologies, capex, productivity) in Engineering as appropriate.
Make quality and timely decisions based on multiple sources of data.
Manage risk and uncertainty; anticipate and escalate roadblocks in order to prevent deviations from goals.
Execute professional activities in compliance with GMP, internal and external requirements, and promote the implementation and maintenance of systems and procedures (COPs, HBR, SOPs and others).
Solve complex problems with full autonomy.
Represent and defend the company's claims to external authorities.
Train and develop skills of less experienced Engineers.
Oversee ongoing Projects being handled by Associate and Full Process Design Engineers to assure execution as expected.
Support other Team Members in any matter related to Design Engineering processes and tools.
Support and coach all Design Engineers related to the most updated "Country specific" Design Codes and Regulations that Engineering Projects must comply with.
Collaborate in internal and external audits.
Update the area Director of relevant occurrences and trends that may have a significant impact on the business.
Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and comply with environmental, health & safety rules/procedures, regulations and codes of practice.
Undertake any additional tasks commensurate with the role as required.
Minimum Requirements: University degree, or equivalent qualification, in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation (mandatory).
Extensive experience in operational environments, in the execution of significant industrial projects (mandatory).
Experience in project management.
Advanced knowledge of construction or industrial projects, with the ability to solve complex problems.
Advanced knowledge of cGMP guidelines, HSE standards, GEP practices, and legal requirements applicable to the specialty of focus.
Fluency in written and verbal English.
Computer literate with good working knowledge of the MS Office package.
Must have the knowledge, experience, and skills to conduct tasks in accordance with the rules and procedures set down (mandatory).
