Subproject PPS2 of this agenda focuses on the development of an air monitoring sensor for the early detection of pathogenic bacterial species. As part of this development, we are pioneering a novel approach for Volatile Organic Compound preconcentration. We are looking for a Research Engineer to contribute to our efforts to successfully deliver a prototype by the end of 2025 for the detection and identification of bacteria through the effective monitoring of their associated Volatile Organic Compounds emission. Suitable candidates should hold a MSc or PhD degree in a pertinent field of study to pursue R&D activities on gas sensor design, development, implementation, and deployment. Job Duties The job duties will be the following: Validation of a prototype Volatile Organic Compound pre-concentrator; Test rig design and implementation; Gas sensor calibration with GC-MS; Software development for hardware control. Mandatory Qualifications Education MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or another related field. Experience Expertise in scientific experimental design; Data acquisition experience with custom designed hardware set-up; Hardware control via software, such as LabVIEW. Technical Skills Analytical chemistry; Software coding.
