Subproject PPS2 of this agenda focuses on the development of an air monitoring sensor for the early detection of pathogenic bacterial species. As part of this development, we are pioneering a novel approach for Volatile Organic Compound preconcentration. We are looking for a Research Engineer to contribute to our efforts to successfully deliver a prototype by the end of 2025 for the detection and identification of bacteria through the effective monitoring of their associated Volatile Organic Compounds emission. Suitable candidates should hold an MSc or PhD degree in a pertinent field of study to pursue R&D activities on gas sensor design, development, implementation, and deployment. Job Duties Validation of a prototype Volatile Organic Compound pre-concentrator; Test rig design and implementation; Gas sensor calibration with GC-MS; Software development for hardware control. Mandatory Qualifications Education MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or another related field. Experience Expertise in scientific experimental design; Data acquisition experience with custom designed hardware set-up; Hardware control via software, such as LabVIEW. Technical Skills Analytical chemistry; Software coding.
