Your passion and purpose
Lead with Design Thinking: From empathising with user needs to ideating creative solutions, you use this framework to guide the product design process. You'll lead workshops and brainstorming sessions, helping cross-functional teams align on user-focused goals and innovative solutions.
Collaboration across teams: You work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the design vision is carried through to the final product. Your role requires strong communication skills, the ability to articulate design concepts clearly, and a collaborative spirit to ensure that everyone is aligned on the project's goals.
High-fidelity prototyping: You're not just sketching ideas—you're bringing them to life through high-fidelity prototypes that capture every detail of the user experience. You are expected to be fluent in creating interactive prototypes that can be tested and iterated on quickly. Your prototypes should communicate your ideas clearly to both stakeholders and engineers, bridging the gap between concept and execution.
User research and testing: Beyond designing, you're deeply involved in understanding the user. You conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to inform and refine your designs. You understand that great design is iterative and are committed to continuously improving the user experience based on real-world insights.
Design advocacy and communication: You are a vocal advocate for design excellence within the team and across the organisation. Your role includes presenting and defending your design decisions, ensuring that they align with both user needs and business objectives. You also mentor junior designers, sharing your knowledge and guiding them in honing their skills.

Essential experience, qualifications, and skills:
Essential qualifications: Certifications in UX design, design thinking, or related areas are essential, showcasing a commitment to continuous learning and development. A degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, or a related field is a plus.
Professional experience: Typically, 3-5+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or a related field, with a track record of successful product launches and design implementations.
Industry experience: Experience working in industries such as technology, software development, or digital products, with an understanding of the specific design challenges and user needs in these areas.
Design Thinking: Expertise in applying design thinking methodologies to solve complex problems and drive user-centred product development.
UX/UI design: Strong understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles. Proficiency in creating intuitive, aesthetically pleasing designs.
Wireframing: Proficiency in creating detailed wireframes that outline the structure and layout of digital products, ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals.
Prototyping: Ability to create interactive prototypes using tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and InVision to visualize and iterate on design concepts.
User research: Experience conducting user research, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analysis of user feedback to inform design decisions.
Usability heuristics and A/B testing: Proficiency in applying usability heuristics and conducting A/B testing to validate design choices and improve user experiences.
Theoretical expertise: Knowledge of key UX laws and principles to optimise user interactions and create intuitive, cohesive designs.
Data analysis: Competence in analysing and interpreting data to extract insights, supporting the design process and decision-making.
Agile and Lean UX: Experience working in Agile environments and applying Lean UX methodologies to iterate quickly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Visual design: Knowledge of graphic design principles and tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) to create visually compelling designs.
