Offer Description The agent will study the assembly of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, particularly the interactions of the structural proteins of the virus with the lipids of the cell at the site of assembly of the virus:
In cells expressing VLPs and fluorescent lipids mimicking the assembly of the virus.
In infected cells using live fluorescence microscopy and STED super-resolution imaging.
Responsibilities include:
Cloning of fluorescent proteins
Production of plasmids
Cell culture in BSL2, transfection
Production of VLPs in BSL2 and infectious viruses in BSL3
Study of the localization of fluorescent viral proteins in lung cells over time (microscopy of living organisms and imaging by confocal microscopy/STED in BSL3)
Recruitment of lipid probes by the virus into cells (FCS)
Presentation of results in lab meetings and at national and international conferences
Additional requirements:
English required
Team spirit
Work in BSL1, BSL2 (cell culture) and BSL3 (viruses and microscopies)
Exchanges/visits to the consortium laboratories (Strasbourg, France and Jena, Germany)
The postdoctoral researcher will work at the CNRS in Montpellier at IRIM (Infectiology Research Institute of Montpellier) in the MDVA team (Membrane Domains and Viral Assembly). This team is interested in the assembly of enveloped RNA viruses and the role of interactions of viral structural proteins with viral RNA and host cell lipids using virology, biochemistry, cell biology, and super microscopy techniques. The team currently includes 3 researchers (in Virology, biophysics, and molecular biology), an engineer (in cell biology), 2 Post-Doctoral students, 4 Doctoral students, and a Master's degree. It is an interdisciplinary and international team.
The project is an international ANR PRC project between Montpellier (D. Muriaux/C. Favard), Strasbourg (A. Klymchenko), and University of Jena in Germany (C. Eggeling) to understand the role of lipids in the assembly of SARS-CoV-2.
The position is located in a sector falling under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
Research Field: Biological sciences » Biological engineering
Years of Research Experience: 1 - 4
Additional Information Eligibility criteria:
Molecular biology, cloning
Cell culture
Virology
Advanced light microscopies (STED, FCS)
English B1/B2 required, German is a plus
Additional comments:
This NanoLipoVirus research project is funded by the ANR-DFG with an international consortium involving the IRIM in Montpellier, the LBP in Strasbourg, and the IAOB in Jena in Germany (from 2025 to 2027).
