Offer Description We are launching a multidisciplinary research project aiming to develop a gas sensor based on Raman spectroscopy (RS). RS is a powerful label-free technique for chemical identification that exhibits high sensitivity when used in combination with plasmonic nanomaterials ( Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy - SERS). In the present project, we combine plasmonic nanomaterials with metallic organic frameworks (MOFs) to provide a higher degree of sensitivity and selectivity of the molecules to sense, even in complex gas environments.
The project entails all the stages of sensor development: from the synthetic part of nanoparticles and MOFs to SERS measurement, all the way to the design of in-field portable RS devices. Therefore, we are searching for a profile that can contribute in different stages of the project.
We are looking for an experienced researcher with an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future), preferably in chemistry but not restricted to , with demonstrable expertise in the field of SERS and/or MOFs. We highly value a "can-do attitude", initiative, independent thinking, and teamwork. Excellent communication skills in fluent English are necessary as the project runs in an international environment of researchers.
The research will be carried out across three different research laboratories in the Paris area: Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films (LPICM), Laboratory of Condensed Matter Physics (LPMC), both at École Polytechnique – Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IPP) , and the Laboratory IMAP (Institute of Porous Materials of Paris), at École Normale Supérieure (ENS-ESPCI) , spanning expertise in the field of MOFs, spectroscopy, nanostructured materials, and analytical chemistry. The candidate will have the opportunity to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment, interacting with other scientific collaborators at national and international levels.
We are offering a fully funded postdoctoral position (PDRA) to join our teams immediately . The duration of the contract is negotiable up to 3 years based on expertise, adaptability, and experimental outcomes. Due to regulations set by the funding entity, and since the position stands in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential, the candidacies will be evaluated also by the funding entity.
The position is expected to start as soon as possible once the selection process is completed.
Candidates should apply by emailing Prof. Guell (******) and provide a detailed CV and at least two references (people who may be contacted).
