Job Summary The Patient Care Technician I (PCT I) is a nursing support role. Individuals with healthcare experience or non-acute care experience will complete a competency based training. After receiving the appropriate orientation and training, individuals will demonstrate the knowledge necessary and act under the direction of a licensed clinician to communicate appropriately, carry out delegated tasks for assigned patient populations, and provide high quality support of patient care and services. This position exercises sound judgment and executes clinical skills commensurate with experience necessary for assisting with patient-care procedures. The PCT I performs basic patient care activities, including but not limited to identifying and responding to abnormal findings, pertinent changes in the patient's condition reporting such to the nurse immediately, charts observations and activities of daily living (ADL's) within unit specific defined limits and job scope, and provides assistance with patient elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, and progress activity and practices patient and family centered care.Job Description Minimum Qualifications Education: (None) Licenses/Certifications : Certified in Basic Life Support or Heartsaver CPR with AED within 90 days of employment, and Certified as a Nursing Assistant by the Texas Department of Health, preferred or Completion of a Medical Assistant training program (Certification or Registration), preferred or In the Emergency Department only, no experience if graduate from EMT (Basic or Intermediate Level) or Paramedic Program Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Prior patient care experience or in lieu of experience a certification. Principal Accountabilities Provides direct patient care for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Obtain pre and post treatment vitals, weight and vascular access condition. Report any unusual changes or findings to the nurse. Responsible for timely and accurate documentation of information related to patient treatment including vital signs, treatment parameters, and change in condition
