Offer Description The Institut Curie is a major player in research and the fight against cancer. It comprises a hospital and a research centre with more than 1,000 staff and a strong international presence.
The aim of the Institut Curie Research Centre is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge generated to improve the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation for the benefit of patients.
Department
The candidate will work in the Immunology Department (INSERM Unit U932) under the supervision of Unit Director Ana-Maria Lennon. Unit U932, which is spread over two buildings: rue d'Ulm within the Cancer Immunotherapy Centre and rue Lhomond, is made up of 10 independent research teams (around 160 collaborators) in the fields of fundamental and applied immunology, working in a highly collaborative and international environment.
The candidate will act as lab manager for the two U932 sites. He/she will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the collective organisation of the laboratories, in particular the shared equipment. The tasks detailed below will be varied and will require both organisational and interpersonal skills.
Organising and monitoring workspaces (offices, workbenches, fridges and freezers (-20ºC and -80ºC) with a PI and the manager (for the offices).
Communicating with members of the unit to pass on information and collect / report any problems (oral or written communication).
Contributing to the implementation of the quality approach and the health and safety policy with the Safety Assistants.
Managing stocks of common consumables:
Internal: supervision of shop orders / ensuring weekly orders in the absence of the dedicated staff.
External: order external common consumables
Supervision of the renewal of common FBS stocks (competitive tendering of suppliers, coordination of tests by team, choice of new batch, etc.).
Participation in the unit's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint / pooling of reagents.
Organisation of maintenance schedules for common areas and other collective tasks: putting away shop orders / cleaning the coffee room / annual cleaning of laboratories / receiving orders in the absence of the dedicated staff.
Integration of the lab into the Institute Contact with various technical departments (hospital / research centre) and health and safety department for requests for work (alterations / minor maintenance / emergencies).
Interaction with the two laundry services in contact with the unit's two sites, management of any problems encountered.
Management of shared equipment / relations with external suppliers Acquisition of shared equipment: technology watch on equipment, assistance with purchasing decisions, organisation of demonstrations, acceptance and commissioning of new equipment.
Maintenance: interaction with external companies to ensure equipment maintenance (regular or repair in the event of breakdown). Renewal of annual maintenance contracts. Annual calibration of pipettes.
Administration of the equipment/common parts reservation tool (adding/removing equipment or users).
Contact with Air Liquide and subcontractors for nitrogen deliveries (including exceptional orders) for the EH/CdR common room, and management of any CO2 supply problems.
Participating in the 'living together' of the unit Helping to welcome new arrivals (administrative reception: coordination with the admin department, registration for statutory training courses, occupational health registration)
Helping to manage departures (returning keys, departure checklists, updating lists, etc.)
Organising and leading regular meetings between the ITAs to review the organisation and report any problems encountered.
Drafting minutes and distributing them to the unit (in French and English)
Follow-up of those responsible for common parts and equipment

Backgrounds and experience
- Proficiency in office and collaborative software, including Pack Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, Filemaker).
- Knowledge of safety standards in research laboratories
- Experience of working in a research laboratory
