Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2)
Positions: PhD Positions
Country: France
Application Deadline: 15 Dec 2024 - 23:59 (Europe/Paris)
Type of Contract: Temporary
Job Status: Full-time
Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Horizon Europe
Reference Number: 2025-R0047
Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No
Offer Description Work environment: The work will be done in the unit "Physiology and Experimental Medicine in Heart and Muscles (PhyMedExp)" INSERM U1046/CNRS UMR 9214/ University of Montpellier. The field of research of the unit is centered on the physiology of contractile tissues (heart, skeletal and smooth muscles) and the pathophysiology of related diseases with a quite restrictive focus on contractile cells and in their environment.
Main mission: The proposed position is part of the 5-year AFM-funded project MYOccitanie. The junior postdoctoral researcher will be in charge of coordinating the research program initially established by the "Development of Smooth Muscle and Associated Pathologies" team, in collaboration with engineers, doctoral students, and permanent staff involved in this project. The aim is to dissect the mechanisms induced by ACTG2 variants across various models: cellular, organoid, and animal. The objective of this project is to identify the pathogenic mechanisms triggered by these variants in order to develop approaches to counteract them with a pre-therapeutic focus.
Activities: The junior postdoctoral researcher will need to develop approaches to express ACTG2 variants in intestinal smooth muscle during its development (avian model) and differentiation (human cellular model). The junior postdoctoral researcher will assess signaling pathways disrupted by these variants through various complementary approaches (biochemistry, transcriptomics, proteomics, and histomorphology). Specific inhibition strategies targeting these pathways will need to be developed to specifically target intestinal smooth muscle in collaboration with team members.
