We are searching for a talented Head of Data Protection based in Lisbon to play a strategic role in our fast-growing, award-winning business. The ideal candidate will be an experienced compliance professional with excellent knowledge of data protection compliance frameworks, strong leadership skills and a solution-oriented attitude. You will report to our Director of Regulatory Compliance and lead our existing 3-person Data Protection team to drive strategic data protection support to the business.
The role As Head of Data Protection in Better Collective, you will lead a talented and ambitious team. You will provide diverse data privacy guidance to a variety of internal stakeholders and help drive the development of our data protection frameworks through a period of high business growth and diversification, including the launch of our new AdTech product. You will balance commercial and strategic goals with compliance and risk factors. Occasionally, international and domestic travel may be required. This position is part of our Group Legal & Compliance function and will report to our Director of Regulatory Compliance based in the UK. This is a critical role at our fast-paced, growth-oriented business in a rapidly evolving industry.
Main responsibilities Collaborate with senior level stakeholders (internally & externally) to integrate compliance frameworks and drive data protection initiatives.Take ownership of the global Data Protection & Privacy framework, ensuring it aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.Work closely with the Director of Regulatory Compliance to develop and maintain data protection processes, policies and procedures based on research findings and practical and commercial requirements.Advise senior management on global data protection matters.Provide expert advice and ensure the education of employees on important data protection compliance requirements.Ensure that internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures are to standard, in consultation with key stakeholders.Promote a culture of data protection compliance across all units of the organisation.Support the due diligence and integration of the Company M&A targets into the data protection processes of the Better Collective Group.Monitor the organisation's compliance with the GDPR and internal data protection policies and procedures.Manage work and deliverables of the Data Protection team to ensure project deadlines and milestones are met.Minimum requirements Bachelor's/Master's degree in privacy law.Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.Excellent analytical skills.CIPP/E certification strongly preferred.8+ years of relevant work experience in data protection compliance.Previous managerial experience.Positive, can-do attitude to fuel growth and innovation.What do we offer you Joining Better Collective, you will become part of a dream team of talented individuals that play each other well.
