Offer Description 1 Research Grant Announcement (M/F)
Call open for applications for a research grant within the framework of project Sensitive Industry , with nr. 182852, co-financed by Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalization (COMPETE 2020), through national funds, under the following conditions:
Scientific Area : Informatics and Computing Engineering
Admission requirements : Candidates who cumulatively meet the following two requirements may apply for this grant:
To be a student enrolled in a master degree or in an integrated master's program who has already completed the 180 credits corresponding to the first six curricular semesters in the area of Informatics and Computing Engineering, a requirement to be duly proven at the time of signing the contract.
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Informatics and Computing Engineering. If the degree has been awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of the Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th, and any formalities established there must be fulfilled until the time of signing the contract.
Activity Outline: Definition of processing system requirements involving edge and cloud resources, development of solutions for reallocation of computing tasks, and edge computing techniques, development of prototypes and their validation and integration.
Work place : The work will be developed at the Department of Informatics Engineering in the Digital and Intelligent Industry research lab (DIGI2), of the Systems and Technologies Research Centre (SYSTEC) of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, under the scientific supervision of Pedro Nuno Ferreira da Rosa da Cruz Diniz and Gil Manuel Magalhães de Andrade Gonçalves.
Grant duration : Initial duration of 6 months , with the predicted starting date in December 2024 , on an exclusive basis eventually renewable but never exceeding the project duration.
The selection of fellows will be based on a curriculum evaluation (CE), which will focus on the candidate's merit, and an interview (I). The curriculum of each candidate will be evaluated on a 1-5 points scale. The interview will be conducted with the best-ranked candidates whose classification in the curricular evaluation is equal to or higher than 4 points (4 in 5 points).
Evaluation criteria for the curricular component:
A . Academic profile of the applicant: Bachelor degree classification equal to or higher than 14 (5 points); Bachelor Degree classification lower than 14 (2 points);
B . Knowledge of Cyber-physical Systems, Sensor Networks, Automation, Machine Learning, AI, Hierarchical Decision and Control Systems with main focus on manufacturing and autonomous systems (1 to 5 points);
C . Research experience in the project area - 5 points; in areas related to the project - 3 points; outside the project area - 1 point;
D . Motivation letter that will allow evaluating the English proficiency and motivation of the candidate (1 to 5 points).
Candidates whose application is evaluated with a final mark of less than 4 (four) in 5 (five) points will not be eligible for a scholarship.
Selection Jury:
Advertisement of final decision : The results of the evaluation will be released to the candidates by email to the email address indicated in the application process.
