No Offer Description NOTICE OF OPENING OF AN INTERNATIONAL SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF A DOCTORATE EQUIVALENT TO AN ASSISTANT RESEARCHER POSITION By order of 18/07/2024, the Dean of FEUP, Professor João Bernardo de Sena Esteves Falcão e Cunha, deliberated to open an international selection procedure for the recruitment of 1 Doctorate equivalent to an Assistant Researcher within the scope of Project PTDC/EEI-AUT/3522/2020 – RELIABLE - Advances in Control Design Methodologies for Safety Critical Systems Applied to Robotics, with DOI 10.54499/PTDC/EEI-AUT/3522/2020, funded by national funds (PIDDAC) through FCT/MCTES, for conducting scientific research activities in the fields of control, system safety, machine learning, and robotics, with specific application to autonomous and critical systems. This recruitment aims the performance of activities corresponding to the category of Doctorate Initial level, as stated in article 8 of Regulation No. 487/2020, of May 22. The Doctorate equivalent to an Assistant Researcher will develop R&D activities in the scope of project RELIABLE which aims to develop control system methodologies and algorithms that directly incorporate safety requirements into the problem formulation, ensuring mathematically proven safety certificates: To achieve this, a specific goal is to combine data-driven approaches and machine learning techniques with recent control and optimization-based techniques capable of enforcing invariance properties in the context of Control Barrier Functions (CBFs) and Lyapunov Control Functions (CLFs) in the presence of complex constraints and uncertainties. Another objective is to extend the mentioned concepts to safety-critical networked systems involving multiple agents operating autonomously in networked and dynamic environments. This project is primarily dedicated to conceptual aspects, but it will also illustrate and demonstrate applications of safety-critical systems. RELIABLE focuses on the following case studies: Robotic vehicles related to remote monitoring and exploration operations.
