Offer Description CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR A RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP (BI) IN CRIMINOLOGY, UNDER THE PROJECT "VICTORY - RESTORATIVE AND VICTIM-CENTRED APPROACH TO MITIGATE HATE AND (VIOLENT) EXTREMISM" Applications are now open for a Research Scholarship for the development of R&D activities in the area of Criminology, within the scope of the Project "VicTory - Restorative and victim-centred approach to mitigate hate and (violent) extremism", Ref no. 101160555, funded by the European Commission through the JUSTICE program, under the following conditions:
1. Research area/s: Criminology
2. Admission requirements: Master's degree in Criminology; Be a student enrolled in a PhD in the field of Criminology or enrolled in a non-degree course as part of the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units (requirement to be duly proven at the time of hiring). 3. Preferred requirements: Participation in Research & Development (R&D) projects or activities related to intervention with victims of crime; Solid knowledge of qualitative and quantitative scientific methodologies within the scope of the project; Skills in using statistical analysis software (SPSS); Publication of at least one scientific article/chapter; Solid knowledge of the English language. 4. Work Plan: Research and review of scientific literature, documents, and legal diplomas in the area of intervention and protection of victims, especially of crimes of violent extremism and hate crimes. Preparation of handbooks, technical reports, and other outputs within the scope of the project; Construction and application of online surveys and statistical analysis of the data collected; Participating in research meetings as part of the project; Participation in activities to disseminate the knowledge produced (e.g. articles and oral communications). 5. Duration: The scholarship will last for 6 months. The scholarship contract, on an exclusive basis, may be renewed, for equal or different periods, during the eligibility of the current funding of the research project, according to institutional needs and financial availability, up to the maximum limit of the duration of the project (October 31st, 2026).
6. Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The monthly maintenance allowance for the studentship is 1259,64,98€, in accordance with Annex I of the Research Grants Regulation of the University of Porto.
7. Evaluation methods: The selection methods are as follows: Curricular assessment (AC) and, if deemed necessary, a selection interview (E). The final classification will be obtained by the following formula: (0.6 x AC) + (0.4 x E).
8. Submission of applications: The candidates must submit their applications by January 13th, 2025 (local time - Lisbon).
