.FCUP | CALL FOR RECRUITMENT OF ONE PHD RESEARCHER | BIOLOGY Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto – Porto, Distrito do Porto NOTICE OF THE OPENING OF AN INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR RECRUITMENT OF ONE PHD RESEARCHER Ana Cristina Moreira Freire, Full Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, hereby advertises the opening for 10 working days of an international call for recruitment on one PhD researcher, within the Project 101139730 – GreenIncities, financed by the European Commission. 1. Main research field: BIOLOGY Sub research field: Urban Ecology/Biodiversity 2. Admission requirement: Application can be submitted by any nationals, foreigners and stateless people who meet the following conditions cumulatively: hold a PhD degree, with no more than 5 years , in the above-mentioned scientific area, and: Experience in urban biodiversity and habitat mapping, in the metropolitan area of Porto or the Northern region in Portugal. Experience in research and survey of different groups of flora and fauna in urban green spaces, in the scope of territorial changes in urban ecosystems. If the candidate holds a doctorate awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions established in the Decree-Law no. 66/2018. All the formalities established in the Decree-Law must be met until the hiring. Failure to comply with these requirements determines the preliminary rejection of the application. Preferential requirements: Experience in territorial planning studies applied to green and blue connectivity, in the context of the definition of the municipal ecological structure. Experience in research projects on the field of urban ecology, with participation on international projects being valued. Experience in scientific writing and report production, especially in English. 3. Job description: The PhD Researcher will perform the following research and teaching activities: Project management, including the organization of scientific meetings, management of relationships with partners, preparation of reports, deliverables, and other related publications. Survey, research and monitoring of urban biodiversity and habitats of Parque de Real in Matosinhos and associated urban territories. Development and application of urban biodiversity analysis methodologies in the context of the implementation of nature-based solutions. Production of scientific publications. Possibility of teaching service at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (up to four teaching hours per week, on an annual average in accordance with Article 12, nº 3 of Regulation nº 487/2020 of Research, Science and Technology Personnel of the University of Porto). 4.
