Who are we?
The British Embassy in Lisbon is part of a worldwide network representing British political, economic, security and consular interests overseas. The Embassy is looking to recruit an Estates & Estates Projects Manager, an experienced professional who will oversee the delivery of estates services in respect of the Embassy building and Ambassador's Residence in Lisbon, our Vice-Consulate in Portimão, and a residential estate of up to 15 rented properties housing our diplomatic staff.

The Estates & Estates Projects Manager reports to the Deputy Head of Corporate Services (Procurement, Contracts and Estates).
Estates Management Lead and manage the estates team, operations, supplier performance, contracts and maintenance activity;
Owning policy, guidance and monitoring standards.
Budget Management Overall responsibility for estates related budgets and forecast expenditure monthly;
Responsible for operational management of all estates contracts.
Housing Lead on the sourcing of residential properties and contract management and oversee the preparation of those properties for officers' arrival;
Review and update accommodation policy annually.
Governance Plan, measure and monitor estates performance against set target, preparing reports as required;
Prepare and respond to any audit and assessment requests, ensure compliant record keeping.
Management Responsibilities Lead and manage the estates team;
Ensure effective deployment of staff resources, clear forward planning, and flexible delivery in line with operational requirements.
Our Ideal Candidate Shows: Proficient spoken and written English and Portuguese (written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework);
Minimum 3 years experience in estates management;
Financial management experience; experience of managing budgets and procurement;
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills: someone who can negotiate effectively (including with external stakeholders) and deliver under pressure, always treating others with respect;
Proven people management skills, capable of leading a team;
Ability and desire to demonstrate high standards, proactivity, effective prioritisation, and a strong attention to detail;
Resilience – able to deal with pressure and work flexibility to deal with competing demands;
Strong oral and written communication skills, including understanding the importance of consulting and informing others;
Good IT skills (including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel) and readiness to develop new skills to use relevant FCDO IT platforms.
Nice to have: 5 years experience in estates management;
UK / PT health and safety;
Clean driving licence;
Project management / facility management certification or experience.
