WHAT YOU'LL DO Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is seeking an experienced and motived individual to join our team as the Director of ESG Supplier Risk.
In this role, you will be critical in advancing BCG's commitment to environment, social and governance (ESG) standards within our supply chain.
Responsibilities include leading our ESG Supplier Risk program to implement strategies to assess, manage and mitigate ESG- related risks associated with BCG's global supplier base.
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and potentially clients, to ensure that ESG considerations are integrated in procurement processes and supply chain management.
As a global business, BCG has several existing and emerging obligations under ESG regulations – you will play a key role in helping ensure that BCG remains compliant.
Having established our global ESG Supplier Risk Management program in Germany and the UK, you will be responsible for taking learnings from these programs and developing a plan for how BCG transitions to a truly global operating model and embraces a culture of continuous improvement.
You will take a proactive and consistent approach to ensure ongoing compliance with existing regulations, including reporting requirements.
In addition to existing legislation; BCG's legal team will work with you to ensure you have awareness of emerging ESG regulations, you will be responsible for implementing the reporting requirements of these to fulfil BCG's compliance obligations.
You will oversee and coordinate BCG's global ESG Supplier Risk Management program, coordinating efforts from a people and process perspective.
You will help embed the program into BCG's operations through coordinating change manage efforts, collaborating with stakeholders across our business including Legal, Compliance, Sustainability teams.
You will also collaboratively partner with local teams to support local requirements, and more broadly, ensure awareness and visibility to the global program.
YOU'RE GOOD AT Evolving and implementing strategic framework Execute BCG's ESG supplier risk management framework aligned with BCG's sustainability goals and client needs, with an eye towards continuous improvement.
You will lead the identification, assessment, and prioritization of ESG risks in the supply chain.
You will work closely with BCG's global procurement team and other relevant functional teams to integrate ESG criteria into supplier selection and management processes.
Supplier Assessment and Engagement: Oversee the development and execution of supplier ESG risk assessments, including conducting due diligence in accordance with prevailing legislation.
You will encourage adoption of best practices across ESG topics and support them in meeting BCG's standards.
As a member of our global procurement team, you will participate in developing and implementing supplier training programs, leading those focused on ESG compliance and risk mitigation.
Risk Mitigation and Reporting: Design and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified ESG risks, including ensuring we have adequate preventative measures in place, as well as robust supplier remediation programs.
You will monitor supplier performance against ESG criteria and develop regular reporting mechanisms for internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities, and ensure timely submission of regulatory reports, and managing complaints remediation.
You will provide insights and recommendations to senior leaders on emerging ESG risks and trends that may impact BCG and its supply chain.
Actively participate in ensuring BCG's ESG-related policies evolve in line with evolving legislation.
Stakeholder Collaboration: You will serve as a subject matter expert on ESG supplier risk, offering guidance on best practices and industry standards.
You will be interacting with various teams in a globally matrixed business Continuous Improvement: You will stay current with emerging trends, regulations, and best practices in ESG risk management and supply chain sustainability, and drive innovation in ESG risk management processes, leveraging technology and data analytics to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS) Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
An advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) is preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or a related field, with a focus on ESG and sustainability.
Proven record of accomplishment of developing and implementing ESG risk management strategies in a global organization.
Experience working in a consulting environment or with a professional services firm is highly desirable.
Deep understanding of ESG principles, standards, and regulations, particularly as they apply to supply chain management.
Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
German language skills (preferred but not required) Fluency in German, with strong written communication skills YOU'LL WORK WITH As the ESG Supplier Risk Director, you will sit within BCG's procurement function and report directly to BCG's Executive Director of Enterprise Procurement & Payables.
You will collaborate closely with key participants within the procurement team, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with BCG's procurement strategies.
Additionally, you will interact with other functions including compliance, legal, and sustainability teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to ESG risk management, and partner extensively with teams in our local geographies to support local regulatory requirements.
