EDP Renováveis's Environmental area is looking to hire an Environmental Engineer.
Main Responsibilities:
Collaborate in the preparation of analyses of wind, photovoltaic and battery/storage sites, producing preliminary Restriction Plans and Useful Area Plans, to support project development activities.
Manage contracting and management of contractors undertaking Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and similar environmental studies, including detailed content checks.
Manage interrelations between EIA and Project Design of wind farm and solar projects.
Collaborate in preparation of Building Permits and other applications.
Analyse the operational phase of the ecological studies (notably birds, bats and flora) and acoustic studies (ecological/environmental) reports produced by the consultants.
Ensure legislative compliance of all wind farm and solar projects in development phase.
Prepare the minutes of case specific construction contractor environmental documentation and collaborate in reviewing contractor version.
Stay up-to-date on monitoring methodologies and techniques that reduce impacts on birds, bats, mammals, or any other component of ecological value.
Contract reforestation projects and habitat improvement projects, as well as monitor their preparation and implementation.
Collaborate in preparing and reviewing the Environment Department budget, especially in development stage of projects and in ecological and acoustic monitoring studies for construction and operating stages.
Looking for people with the following requirements:
Graduate or Master's degree in Environmental Science.
5-7 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and understanding of national and European environmental legislation and Environmental Impact Assessment (particularly in the "ecology" module).
Knowledge and understanding of environmental issues, processes, and impacts, particularly linked to wind energy, solar energy and hydropower (preferred).
Experience and knowledge of environmental monitoring activities linked to wind energy and solar energy (preferred).
Knowledge of the Portuguese landscape and its ecological values.
Geographic Information System (G.I.S) (ArcGIS, QGIS) (preferred).
Ability to read, write and speak English to a good level (mandatory).
Knowledge of Spanish (preferred).
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Excellent writing skills (Portuguese and English).
Good I.T. skills.
Conscientious, self-motivated, and a good communicator.
Able to work well under pressure and confident in negotiating with colleagues and contractors.
Driver's License.
