.Engineering Manager I - RUM Mobile SDK (Lisbon) Lisbon, Portugal Datadog's Real User Monitoring (RUM) gives our customers end-to-end visibility into the real-time activity and experience of individual users, on the web and on mobile. This includes application performance, error management, as well as analytics & user insights. RUM is massively growing: More customers, more features & more people! And this growth comes with challenges. As an Engineering Manager on the Mobile SDKs you'll lead the development of cutting-edge SDKs in Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter and/or Unity, impacting millions of users across major organizations by identifying performance bottlenecks and improving web optimization. This role offers direct influence over SDK design and delivery, supporting teams beyond RUM like Product Analytics and Error Tracking, and working cross-functionally with product, design, frontend and backend. We expect that you are completely familiar with the mobile app development ecosystem and the specific release, security and privacy challenges that exist. Your SDK code must be safe and robust in this complex environment. What You'll Do: Manage and grow the Mobile SDK teams, directly managing 6-8 engineers across 2-3 domains Define our technical roadmap in alignment with product goals and the frontend and backend teams Work directly with partner teams such as Application Performance Monitoring, Product Analytics and Error Tracking to define the client side experience of Datadog. Create a strong team culture aligned with our engineering standards and our customer focus Participate in hands-on work: Code reviews, design reviews and some coding Who You Are: A Software Engineer at heart with previous experience leading software engineering teams, as a tech lead or people manager Excellent leader with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and lead high-performing teams Skilled at building bridges with other teams and nourishing collaborative relationships, managing dependencies between our partners. Interested in the small details that have a large impact on app development You have a track record of delivering high-quality software products on schedule and collaborating closely with product partners. Strong technician, particularly in one of Java/Kotlin, Objective-C/Swift, or multi-platform frameworks targeting mobile (Unity, Flutter, React Native) Experienced at building packages or tooling for developers to use in production
