We are seeking a skilled Data Architect to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping our data landscape. You will design, implement, and optimize data models, ensuring alignment with business requirements and enterprise architecture. By fostering data compliance and delivering reusable assets, you will support our digital product teams and contribute to a robust data-driven culture. The Data Architect is responsible for designing and overseeing the data models within a specific business domain.
This role plays a critical part in contributing to the target Enterprise Architecture by designing the data layer in alignment with business goals and digital strategies.
The Data Architect ensures that the domain's data is compliant with enterprise data management standards, supports platform needs, and drives the adoption of a data mesh approach across the organization.
The role also focuses on reducing data debt and delivering high-quality, well-understood data assets.
Tasks Design Domain Data Models:
Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models within the assigned domain, aligning them with the organization's broader enterprise architecture strategy. Ensure data models are designed for scalability, efficiency, and flexibility.
Contribute to Enterprise Architecture:
Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to align the data architecture within the domain to the overall enterprise architecture. Ensure that the data design supports business goals, digital transformation, and organizational agility.
Conceptual Model & Roadmap Development:
Partner with business stakeholders and digital teams to define the conceptual data model for the domain. Develop data adoption trajectories and roadmap for successful implementation and alignment with enterprise standards.
Support Digital Product Teams:
Assist digital product teams in reducing data debt by improving data management practices. Ensure that data assets are optimized, well-documented, and understood by all relevant teams.
Deliver Understood Data Assets:
Support the domain in delivering high-quality, well-understood, and reusable data assets to the enterprise platform, ensuring their alignment with platform needs and organizational objectives.
Contribute to Data Architecture Evolution:
Actively participate in the evolution of data architecture principles and frameworks within the organization. Contribute to best practices and thought leadership around data management, data mesh adoption, and related strategies.
Core Competencies Data Architecture & Modeling: Strong expertise in designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Understanding of data mesh principles and distributed data architecture.
Data Management & Governance: Experience in implementing data governance frameworks using tools like Collibra for metadata management, data quality, and cataloging. Ability to drive compliance and improve data quality across domains.
Cloud Data Platforms: Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its data services (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, DataFlow, Pub/Sub). Knowledge of cloud-native data architecture principles.
Data Mesh: Experience with data mesh principles, fostering a decentralized data ownership culture while ensuring global governance and standards across domains.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to work closely with business and digital teams to define data strategies, adoption trajectories, and roadmaps. Excellent communication skills to drive decision-making and align with stakeholders.
Tools & Technologies: Proficiency with Collibra for data governance, quality, and cataloging; Google Cloud Platform (GCP) expertise in BigQuery, DataFlow, Pub/Sub; applied understanding of decentralized data ownership models; experience with data modeling tools like ER/Studio, ERwin, or similar.
Requirements Data Architecture & Modeling: Competent and essential.
Conceptual Model & Roadmap Development: Competent and required.
Proficiency with data modeling tools.
Experience with BigQuery is highly desirable.
