Offer Description Work Plan:
The aim of this work plan is to develop a numerical model of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) for ascending aortic aneurysms, using data from 4D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and clinical analyses. The project will include three main stages: first, characterising the boundary conditions from the clinical data; second, developing the model in SimVascular software, integrating all the obtained data; and finally, validating and optimising the model based on the 4D MRI images. The work aims to contribute to improving methods for preventing disease progression and supporting clinical decision-making, documenting the entire process in technical reports that highlight the conclusions and implications of the developed model.
Workplace:
The work will be carried out at the Research Development Unit in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (UNIDEMI) of the NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA of the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa under the scientific supervision of Professors José Manuel Cardoso Xavier and Moisés Gonçalo de Brito, being the contracting entity NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT.
