The Position
The Associate Director, Global Data Steward is responsible for operational data ownership and stewardship for the global commercial data and analytics organization, establishing and overseeing policies and practices that ensure the effective acquisition, management, security, and quality of data across the organization. This individual manages third-party data relationships and serves as an expert resource internally, providing instruction in data navigation, promoting data availability and use, and shaping data strategy. The incumbent promotes data usability and literacy by maintaining information systems and datasets, creates and maintains data catalogues, manages data standards and access rules and provides appropriate training and on-boarding to colleagues.
As a key member of the data governance committee, the role involves coordinating with various teams to implement governance and quality policies and best practices, ensuring that data is used responsibly and effectively to support business objectives. The incumbent will participate in creating and deploying data governance frameworks, supporting data stewardship, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting data integrity and consistency.
ResponsibilitiesGlobal Data Stewardship:
Manages third-party data relationships and champions global data sources including, but not limited to:
IQVIA (MIDAS, Disease, Analytics Link, etc.), Cortellis, Clarivate, Evaluate, GlobalData, etc.
Ensures data standards are maintained, triages challenges raised by users and addresses gaps in delivery, data quality, or performance.
Serves as the key point of contact and global resource for understanding which data sources best address business requirements, directing and guiding users to appropriate content. Where required, the incumbent will performing customized search, extract and analysis to inform business decisions.
Proactively & continuously assesses alternative data sources to address current and future business needs.
Partners with stakeholders and provide insights/solutions to address business questions, by leveraging a variety of data and research solutions.
Data Governance:
Implements data governance frameworks and policies with respect to in scope data sources and systems.
Participates in Data Governance Council and management of Organon's contractual obligations related to data contracts.
Champions and support roles for data stewardship and management across the GBI&A organization and data and analytics community of practice.
Ensures that data governance practices align with organizational goals and comply with intended uses of the acquired information and relevant regulations and standards.
Data Quality and Integrity:
Implement, and improve data quality management processes, including data profiling, cleansing, and validation.
Implement measures to ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across the commercial organization.
Data Usability and Literacy:
Promote data usability and literacy.
Create, manage, and maintain data catalogues to facilitate easy access and understanding of data assets.
Develop and implement data standards and access rules, promoting them across various teams.
Coordination and Implementation:
Work closely with appropriate internal functions and community of practice to implement data governance policies and best practices.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistent application of governance practices and resolve data-related issues.
Training and Support:
Provides training and support on data sources and tools within scope including IQVIA products, Global Data, Clarivate, Evaluate, and Cortellis.
Educates Organon founders on data resources, governance policies, data management tools, and best practices.
Promotes Communities of Practice.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Track and report on resource utilization.
Track the effectiveness of data governance and quality initiatives.
Identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Information management, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Master's degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or other relevant discipline preferred.
Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in Marketing, Analytics, Data Management or similar role. DAMA certification or similar is a plus.
Strong project management skills.
Proven analytical and data interpretation skills. Ability to distill down and synthesize complex information from various sources and create effective reports and solutions.
Strong leadership skills, ability to work independently and deal well with ambiguity.
Strong interpersonal skills, strong influencing, negotiating, conflict resolution skills.
Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills.
Knowledge of both the US and global healthcare environment.
Working knowledge of Data Protection & Privacy commercial and FCPA laws and regulations as they apply to the pharmaceutical industry.
Proven experience and knowledge of IQVIA data and systems.
