Offer Description A call for applications is now open for the attribution of 1 grant of Research Fellowship for a Bachelor degree holder within the scope of the R&D project, of Center for Microelectromechanical Systems (CMEMS-UMinho), "INTEGRATOR: Pain and physical limitations perception for human-sensitive Intelligent collaborative robotics", ref: 2022.15668.MIT, financed by national funds through the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT), within the scope of Exploratory Projects within the MIT Portugal Program - 2022.

Recipient category: Students enrolled on a master's degree/ integrated master's degree or non-degree course in the area or area related to that requested in the notice.
Requirement for granting the fellowship: The applicants may apply without prior registration in the course for which the fellowship is open. The requirement to enroll in a degree course or non-academic degree course will be verified on the date of contracting the fellowship. Only fellowships whose selected applicants present a valid proof of enrollment in a degree course or non-academic degree course will be contracted.
Candidates Profile Mandatory Requirements:
Candidates must have, at the date of application, a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering.
Proof of academic qualifications completed at the deadline for applications, including those resulting from academic degree recognition processes.
Candidates enrolled in non-conferring degree course cannot benefit from this scholarship.
Preferred Requirements: Degree in the area of biomedical engineering field of medical electronics, with knowledge in the area of robotics. Demonstrated experience in designing experiments and protocols, in the analysis of biomechanical data, and in sensor systems such as Movella, sEMG, and ECG.
Applicants Eligibility: Applicants must comply with the eligibility conditions laid down in article 9 of the Research Grants Regulation of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (2019).
Workplan and Objectives The main objective of this work plan is to collect data from the target population. The work will be divided into the following phases:
Acquisition of experimental data from the target population;
Support during the validation of the RL-based controller for pain management and ergonomics;
Analysis of the obtained data.
The scholarship holder will contribute to the preparation of a report with the results obtained.
Fellowship Duration The grant will take place for a period of 3 months, with a provisional starting date in January 2025.
Amount of the Research Grant The value stipend (Monthly Maintenance Allowance) is 990,98€ per month.

Substitute Members: Doctor José Augusto Afonso (Auxiliar Professor from industrial Electronics Department of University of Minho) and Doctor Alexandre Manuel Teixeira Barros Ferreira Silva (Auxiliar Professor from industrial Electronics Department of University of Minho)
Criteria and Procedures for Applications Assessment and Selection The applications assessment will focus on the candidate's Merit, following evaluation criteria, valued on a scale of 1 to 5 values:
Academic path (considering the classifications of academic degrees), with a weighting of 40%;
Personal curriculum (considering professional and scientific background), with a weighting of 50%;
Motivation letter, with a weighting of 10%.
