Offer Description ANNOUNCEMENT FOR HIRING ONE (1) SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

The Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica (ISR) – Universidade de Coimbra opens a call for hiring 1 (one) research manager for BsC/Master holders in the scope of several projects running in the Computer Vision Lab, in a fixed-term employment contract basis.
Scientific Area: Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Economy, Management or similar areas.
Application Profile: BSc/Master's in Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Economy, Management or similar areas. The chosen applicant will integrate a multi-disciplinary research team working in several projects related to security of visual information, touching Computer Vision, Biometrics, Deep Learning and affine areas. Fluency in Portuguese and English is mandatory. Knowledge in user-level software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Documents, or similar is also mandatory. Previous experience in Management of Science and Technology, particularly in Engineering or Computer Science is relevant, but not mandatory. The candidate should have outstanding organization skills, be pro-active and have good capacity for writing and communicating. Skills in creating presentations, graphic design or visual content is relevant, but not mandatory.
NOTE: Candidates with foreign academic diplomas are obliged to present records of the equivalence/recognition of such diplomas and the conversion of the respective final notes to the Portuguese classification scale (whenever a final classification is attributed with the foreign diploma), issued by the Directorate-General for Higher Education or by a Portuguese public higher education establishment (regulated by Decree-Law no. 341/2007, of 12 October) or, in alternative, present the document of equivalence/recognition of such foreign qualifications to the corresponding Portuguese qualifications, issued by a Portuguese public higher education establishment (regulated by Decree-Law no. 283/83, of 21 June).
Project: This contract is supported by several projects running under the Supervision or Coordination of Prof. Nuno Gonçalves at VisTeam of the Computer Vision Lab.
Work Plan: The selected candidate will work directly with Prof. Nuno Gonçalves in the management of the VisTeam. A non-exhaustive list of tasks includes:
Administrative, bureaucratic and logistical support to VisTeam, its management and projects;
Updating and maintaining general data records, including research, management and personnel data;
Maintaining and editing website content;
Support in attracting researchers and disseminating opportunities;
Dissemination of research activities;
Support in funding applications;
Logistical support to the Computer Vision laboratory;
Support in the purchase and acquisition of equipment, components and other purchasing needs;
Project management support;
Writing of reports;
Support for the creation of graphic content, in presentation, animation, video or infographic format;
Contact with the team members and external persons/institutions;
Direct support to the group Coordinator.
Regime: The attribution of the contract does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labour nature, it is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime, according to ISR and FCT regulations, both in its actual wording.
Duration: The contract has a duration of 12 months, renewable for periods of 6 or 12 months, depending on the merit evaluation. The beginning of the Contract is expected for December 2024 / January of 2025.
Financial Conditions: The amount of the Contract is 1.200,00 €* (gross salary) plus meal, holiday and Christmas allowances. The payment will be made by bank transfer.
*Note: the amount may be higher depending on the qualifications and experience demonstrated.
Selection Method: Curricular evaluation (40%), and interview (60%) to the best applications at the Curricular Evaluation phase.
Selection and Attribution Criteria:
In the curricular evaluation (40%) will be considered the following criteria: global merit of the curriculum vitae (30%) and adequation of the candidate to the project (70%).
In the interview (60%) for the best 4 candidates of the Curricular Evaluation, it will be evaluated the motivation degree and the commitment for the task to develop.
The candidates with a final evaluation of 3.5, or lower, in the scale of 5 values will be excluded. The jury reserves the right to not attribute the Grant in the case no candidate has the required profile.
Publication of the Results: The evaluation results will be announced within 90 days after the end of the applications submission deadline, by notifying the applicants via email. After the announcement of the results, candidates are considered automatically notified to, if they wish to do so, comment on the results on a preliminary hearing period within 10 days after that date. After this, the selected candidates will have to declare in writing their acceptance. Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waives the grant. In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the next candidate with the highest evaluation score will be notified immediately.
