The ICOVAC - France project (Impact of COVID-19 on vaccination in France) aims to study the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on vaccination in France. Directed by Patrick Peretti-Watel (sociologist, INSERM, Vitrome, Marseille) and Jeremy Ward (sociologist, INSERM, CERMES3, Villejuif), this project will focus in particular on the evolution of ordinary relationships to vaccines, public debates concerning them, and the representations and practices of healthcare professionals.
The project coordinators are looking for a contract researcher (post-doctorate) with expertise in computational social sciences, particularly computational linguistics and the management of large textual databases.
The candidate's work will focus on public debates around vaccines. In particular, he or she will be responsible for building up databases from various web media, as well as other textual databases. He/she will be responsible for:
Creating databases compiling textual data and other information making it possible to situate these data.
Analyzing and leading the valorization of these data.
She or he will work at CERMES3 (Villejuif, 94800) under the supervision of Jeremy Ward. The contract will be full-time and for a period of two years. Recruitment is expected during the first semester of 2025.

The candidate's host laboratory will be CERMES3 (Villejuif site, 94800). Cermes3 is a multidisciplinary laboratory dedicated to the social analysis of transformations in the worlds of science, medicine and health, and their relationship to society. The laboratory brings together sociologists, historians, anthropologists, political scientists, economists and psychologists. Cermes3 is a CNRS (UMR 8211), Inserm (U988), EHESS and Université Paris Cité laboratory. It is attached to two Labexes: Sites and Tepsis. The ICOVAC project is based at CERMES3 (Villejuif) and the Observatoire Régional de la Santé - PACA (Marseille). The successful candidate may be required to travel to Marseille from time to time to take part in meetings between project participants.

General Profile
The recruited person's training will preferably be in the social sciences, but may also be in data science. The person will have a solid command of the methods usually used in the processing of massive textual data and web data analysis methods, as well as an interest in developments in this field of research. He/she will have an interest in the methodological challenges posed by the analysis of this type of data, and the ability to identify and use relevant innovative methods. The person will have an appetite for teamwork and experience of scientific valorization (scientific articles in English).
