CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR A SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
It is now open a call for applications for one (1) Scientific Research Fellowship in the framework of the project "CLUMOSE – Clutch-Brake condition monitoring smart sensor", under the following conditions:
1. Scientific field: Physics, Materials Engineering, Biophysics and Bionanosystems and related areas.
2. Admission Requirements:
Master degree in Physics, Biophysics and Bionanosystems, Materials Engineering, Biology, Biomedical Engineering and related areas;
Experience in the processing and characterization of Smart and multifunctional materials, nanoparticles and/or magnetoliposomes;
Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees and diplomas, or their respective recognition when they have been awarded by foreign higher education institutions, may be waived at the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate, with verification of such condition only in the stage of contracting the fellowship. This statement must attest facts that occurred on a date prior to the application. In situations of divergence between the information contained in the declaration and the documentation submitted for the purpose of contracting a grant, only the information contained in the latter will be considered. If it is verified that the documents proving the ownership of the academic degree and diploma, or the respective recognition under the terms of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, do not correspond to the classifications awarded in the evaluation of the academic path and may, consequently, change the candidate's ranking, the fellowship contracting will not be effected.
On the date of the respective hiring, candidates must prove that they are enrolled in a course conferring or not conferring an academic degree, integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, in the area or area related to that requested in the notice (e.g.: postgraduate studies, advanced studies, specialized training)
3. Work Plan: The activities to be carried out under the project are:
The scientific fellow should work on the development of magnetic nanoparticles and magnetoliposomes to be hybridized with gels for the controlled or activate release of different biochemical factors. Further, the developed materials will be combined with polymer based electroactive materials. The physical-chemical characterizations of the materials will also be performed.
4. Applicable legislation and regulation: Law No. 40/2004, of 18 August (Statute of Scientific Research Fellows), amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of 27 August, with the updates introduced by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of October 29, Law No. 12/2013 of January 29, Decree-Law No. 89/2013 of July 9 and Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of August 28; Regulation of Research Grants of FCT, IP, approved by Regulation No. 234/2012 of June 25, 2012, amended and republished by Regulation No. 326/2013 of July 27, 2013 and amended by Regulation No. 339/2015 of 17th of June 2015, by Regulation No. 137-A/2018 of February 27, 2018 and Regulation No. 950/2019, of December 16, 2019. Regulation 950/2019 of 16 December was amended by Regulation 643/2021 of 14 July.
5. Workplace and Scientific Orientation: The activities will be developed at the Centre of Physics, University of Minho, under the scientific supervision of Professor S. Lanceros-Mendez.
6. Duration of the Fellowship: The fellowship will last for 6 months, starting on 15 December 2024, on an exclusive basis, according to the regulation of advanced training in Human Resources of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The scholarship contract may be renewed up to the maximum duration of the project that funds it.
Other benefits: Voluntary Social Insurance (SCHE) reimbursement, corresponding to the 1st Echelon of the contributory base (for grants lasting 6 months or more) and Worker's Compensation Insurance.
8. Evaluation and selection criteria and procedures: The selection methodology will follow the following criteria: curricular evaluation and laboratorial experience in the field area, with a respective value of 50 per cent for each of these items.
9. Composition of the Selection Jury: President: Senentxu Lanceros-Méndez, Effective Members: Pedro de Abreu Martins, Carlos Miguel Costa; Paula Dias.
10. Form of advertising/notification of results: The results of the evaluation will be publicized through the ranking and selection minutes, attached to the notification sent to candidates via e-mail.
11. Application deadline and form of submission of applications: The call for applications is open from 20th of November, 2024 to 3rd of December 2024.
Applications must be formalized, mandatorily, by sending the following documents: curriculum vitae, Motivation Letter, Diplomas or certificate of qualifications and other evidence considered relevant.
The researcher responsible for the project reserves the right not to award the Scientific Research Fellowship in competition depending on the result of the evaluation of the applications and its suitability for the project's objectives.
