.Ynvisible's Online Shop Proves Ideal for Samples, Feedback ... There is a lot of interest in printed electronics (PE), but potential customers are looking for samples to try to determine what can actually be done with printed electronics. These samples are becoming an increasing challenge for PEentrepreneurs, as the time and cost associated with creating samples are taking away from important R&D work.To meet the need for samples in a way that benefits their company as well, Ynvisible has come up with a unique approach by launching an online store during drupa.The online shop, which can be found at: provides companies the opportunity to try out Ynvisible's novel interactive technology. Initially, it features five products:A moisture sensor for plants; three button-activated greeting cards; and a light-activated bookmark. The price for the samples ranges form €9.99 for the bookmark, €10.49 for the cards and €12.99 for the moisture sensor.By having the online shop ready for drupa, Ynvisible could direct interested people to the site to get a feel for its products."We have started to get a lot of requests for samples, most of which are from people who are simply curious,"said Jani-Mikael Kuusisto, chief business development officer for Ynvisible. "We knew that when we exhibited at drupa, we couldn't give out samples to everyone."Kuusisto said that the response was beyond what Ynvisible anticipated, and the store quickly sold out."Although the volumes are not massive, within a week of launching our online store at drupa, everything we had produced ahead of drupa had sold out,"Kuusisto said.As an added benefit, the shop provides Ynvisible with the ability to quickly test public acceptance to new product ideas."The store has several different purposes,"Kuusisto noted. "Besides allowing us to quickly address the need for samples, it also helps us process a lot of new ideas, several of which are in the pipeline, and test where the interest is from buyers."Kuusisto noted that drupa is the company's main event this year, and it has given the company the opportunity to meet with more brand owners and designers as well as printers."We are working with fast-moving consumer brand owners to develop end-use applications," Kuusisto added. "The potential for these is huge."One example at the Ynvisible booth was its interactive perfume selection advisors that Ynvisible and L'Oréal Luxe Division in Portugal co-developed. In use in select major perfume shops in Portugal, the point-of-sale display directs the customer to the right choice of perfume, following a short quiz to identify the shopper's preferences. It is the first interactive display developed by Ynvisible to be commercially used in the retail environment."The amount of choices of perfumes at cosmetics stores can be overwhelming for some consumers,"Kuusisto said.
