We are excited to expand our team at our brand-new tech hub in Coimbra, where you will have a unique opportunity to influence the development and culture of this innovative hub.Role Accountabilities:Leading a team of software engineers to design, develop, and maintain large-scale systems that meet our clients' needsEnsuring continuous delivery of value through efficient development practices and timely releasesWorking closely with other development team members to ensure our systems' reliability, scalability, and securityAligning the team's work with the product vision and strategic goalsStaying up to date with the latest best practices in software engineering and providing technical leadership to your teamHandling some line management duties, including hiring, training, and performance managementDriving improvements in development practices across the department to enhance efficiency and qualityContributing to the hybrid work culture, balancing remote and in-office work while fostering a positive and collaborative environmentRelationships:Software Engineers: Lead and collaborate with a diverse team of software engineers to create first-class solutions that support our servicesProduct Owners: Work closely with product owners to align the team's work with product vision and strategic goalsHeads of Product: Coordinate with heads of product to ensure the development efforts meet their expectations and contribute to the overall product strategyEngineering Management: Liaise with engineering management to facilitate efficient communication and collaboration within the organisationArchitects: Collaborate with architects to ensure the technical design of the systems aligns with the company's architectural vision and best practicesCustomers: Maintain open lines of communication with internal and external customers, ensuring their needs are met and fostering long-term relationshipsKnowledge and Experience:Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience7+ years of experience in software engineeringStrong proficiency in .Net development, focusing on creating scalable and maintainable codeExperience working with both relational and NoSQL databases, understanding their advantages and appropriate use casesProficiency in Azure or AWS cloud services and familiarisation with IaC tooling for managing cloud infrastructureCommitment to code quality and maintainability, adhering to principles for readability, modularity, and simplicityIn-depth knowledge of best practices for rapid and reliable software releases, including:Automation of build, test, and deployment processesEfficient collaboration techniques among team members to maintain a fast-paced development cycleEmbracing iterative development methods, such as short feedback loops and incremental improvementsAppreciation for development methodologies that emphasize test-driven development, pair programming, and continuous integrationStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop innovative solutionsExcellent communication skills, fostering effective collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and clientsSome experience in people management, including hiring, training, and performance managementPlease note that only applications submitted in English will be considered.Our policy is to employ the best qualified people and provide equal opportunity for the advancement of employees including promotion and training and not to discriminate against any person because of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, belief or disability.
