Student Affairs Manager, 42 LisboaABOUT 42 SCHOOL:42 is one of the best coding schools in the world, with more than 52 campuses in over 31 countries. It is an inclusive school, open to anyone regardless of academic background or professional experience: anyone aged 17 or over is welcome to apply. The only requirement is to either have completed mandatory schooling in Portugal or be at least 18 years old. The school uses a disruptive learning approach based on a peer-to-peer, project-based learning method. There are no teachers or schedules, no tuition, and the whole program is free – sponsored by several individual and corporate benefactors. The entire program takes place physically in the campus, which is open 24 hours, 365 days a year, for students to come in and work whenever they want to.42 Lisboa was launched in July 2020 and has received almost 40,000 applications since then and now counts with +500 students. Learn more about 42 Lisboa here and 42 Porto here.ABOUT THE ROLE:The Student Affairs Manager is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the student experience within 42 Lisboa. This involves a wide range of tasks focused on supporting students' academic, social, and personal development and implementing academic activities & events, on a regular basis.These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Students Journey Experience: Ensure every candidate and student has an amazing experience at 42 by fostering great relationships with them and maintaining contact with applicants and students from their entry into the Piscine (selection bootcamp), to selection, by implementing orientation programs for new students to ensure a smooth transition into 42 academic environment and providing ongoing support throughout their studies until their graduation.Student Engagement: Design and implement efficient strategies and initiatives that promote student engagement and retention, encourage participation in academic and co-curricular activities, and collaborate with 42 Staff to identify students who may need additional support.Student Support and Counseling: Mentor, provide guidance and personalized counseling services to help students with personal and academic-related issues. This includes connecting students with campus resources and support services, managing mental health resources and crisis intervention, redirecting students to a specialist support whenever necessary.Students Program Development: Design, implement, and oversee programs that promote student engagement, leadership, academic and personal growth, such as student organizations, extracurricular activities, and projects proposed and developed by the school's staff or students (including student clubs), ensuring they all operate effectively and meet the needs of the student community.42 Policy Development and Implementation: Help develop, communicate, and enforce policies related to students' conduct and campus life to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.42 Campus Events: Organize and oversee the school's standard and recurring curriculum events (e.g., ID Check, Kick-off, Exams, Evaluations) as well as other events, workshops, and initiatives that enhance the 42 campus experience and foster a sense of community among students.Assessment and Improvement: Continuously assess the effectiveness of student services and programs through feedback and data analysis to make improvements and enhance student satisfaction.WHAT YOU BRING:"People Centric" Mindset: You are completely moved and fulfilled by making a difference in someone else's life.
