Subsea 7 is looking for a Steel Structural Engineer for its office in Portugal.
We are growing the Structural Engineering team in GPC Lisbon hub and therefore we are looking for a Steel Structural Engineer to work on studies, tenders and projects in a variety of EPCI and T&I jobs for the offshore energy business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform specific calculation and checking of structural design activities, such as, seafastening, installation aids and permanent structures design (ILTs, PLETs, Suction Anchors…).
Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API, DNV, AISC); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work.
Monitor the progress of own deliverables, controlling schedule, scope and budget.
Liaise with other disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project.
Contribute as required to events such as Bid Clarifications, Kickoff meetings, HIRAs, Design Reviews, etc.
Be a mentor/coach for Junior Engineers.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Graduated with a M.Sc. / Ph.D. in Civil (Structural), Mechanics, Aerospace or Marine/offshore Engineering.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in steel structural design activities (background in offshore energy sector is a plus but not mandatory).
Competency in design and analysis software packages for FEA (Abaqus, Ansys…) and Beam Elements (Staad Pro, SACS or similar) is essential.
Good knowledge of design codes (AISC, API, ABS, BV, DNV, Eurocodes…).
Ability to prioritize own and others' workload where constraints will affect a project in terms of deadlines or budget.
Strong communication skills (English & Portuguese) and keen interest to work with other disciplines/departments.
