Our client, a Silicon Valley company specialising in Vertical AI SaaS solutions, collaborates with top firms worldwide in industries such as accounting, consulting, investment banking, legal, private capital, and real assets. They're looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator to join their growing team at their new Research & Development centre in Lisbon. In this role, you'll be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of SQL Server systems, ensuring their security, availability and consistent performance.
Key Responsibilities
• SQL Server Configuration & Maintenance: Set up and maintain SQL Server instances and databases to ensure reliability.
• System Health Monitoring: Proactively monitor system performance and health to identify and address potential issues.
• Ensure System Reliability: Maintain high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security for databases.
• Real-Time Issue Resolution: Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues promptly.
• Provide Solutions: Offer suggestions for improvements and implement solutions to enhance database performance.
• Automation & Documentation: Refine and automate regular processes, track and resolve issues, and document changes thoroughly.
• Support Developers: Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement for optimised database performance.
• Optimise SQL Queries: Check and fine-tune SQL queries to improve efficiency and speed.
• On-Call Support: Be available for emergency support when needed.
• After-Hours Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and support release deployments.
What You Bring
• SQL Server Expertise: Over 3 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA, working with large infrastructure and databases, including strong knowledge of SQL Server AlwaysOn.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Hands-on experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions for SQL Servers.
• Cloud Experience: Proficiency with Microsoft Azure Cloud.
• Windows Server Expertise: Strong experience with Windows Server, including Active Directory and Windows Cluster.
• Scripting Knowledge: Familiarity with PowerShell or Python for automation and scripting tasks.
• Terraform Experience: Practical experience using Terraform.
• Performance Tuning & Optimisation: Proven experience in tuning performance and optimising databases for efficiency.
• Backup & Recovery Knowledge: Skilled in managing backups, restores, and recovery models.
• Self-motivation, Teamwork, & Time Management: Highly self-motivated with excellent teamwork skills, along with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
• Communication & Critical Thinking: Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to documentation, and excellent problem-solving abilities with a critical mindset.
• Fluent in English: You can speak and write English confidently and clearly.
• Certification Advantage: Preference for candidates with Microsoft Certified SQL DBA credentials.
