ROLE SUMMARY:St. Peter's International School is an international school that provides a competitive, high-quality response to the needs of a diverse population. As part of our commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment, we are seeking a compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistant to work one-on-one with a primary school student with autism, enrolled in the CP4 pathway.
This role is offered on a freelance regime, and working hours will vary depending on demand and the specific needs of the student and school. It is a flexible opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting the student's academic, social, and emotional development while collaborating closely with a dynamic and dedicated team of educators and support staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Student SupportWork closely with the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans tailored to the student's needs.Provide individualized academic assistance, adapting materials and instructions to align with the student's learning style and abilities.Utilize tools such as visual aids, sensory resources, and assistive technology to enhance learning experiences.Monitor and document the student's progress, contributing to the achievement of Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.Behavioral and Emotional GuidanceBuild a trusting and supportive relationship with the student to foster engagement and well-being.Implement behavior management strategies as outlined in the student's Behavior Support Plan (BSP).Recognize signs of sensory overload or distress and apply appropriate interventions to support self-regulation.Encourage positive interactions and the development of social-emotional skills.Collaboration and CommunicationLiaise with the classroom teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to the student's support.Participate in parent-teacher conferences, team meetings, and IEP reviews to share insights and updates on progress.Maintain accurate records of the student's achievements, challenges, and ongoing needs.Promoting InclusionFacilitate the student's active participation in group activities, encouraging peer interactions and inclusion in classroom and playground settings.Promote independence while providing necessary guidance to build the student's confidence and autonomy.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:Proven experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs.Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and its impact on learning, behavior, and social interactions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.Patience, empathy, and adaptability to support diverse needs in a dynamic educational environment.A commitment to fostering inclusion and promoting the holistic development of all learners.SAFEGUARDING STATEMENTInspired Education Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment.
