The Infrastructure Engineering teams are looking for an experienced and passionate software engineer to help ensure customers worldwide can access Squarespace products quickly and reliably. We work with the product teams to maintain the reliability of our system, using a fleet of microservices, Kubernetes operators, our hybrid data centers, and industry-leading resource efficiency to achieve outstanding results.
The Compute team believes in the SRE philosophy of applying software engineering methodologies to operational tasks. We create self-healing and self-orchestrating distributed systems.
You will report to the engineering manager in Compute Foundations. This is a hybrid role, working out of our NYC office at least 3 days per week.
You'll Get To… Build internal services like Kubernetes operators, automated VM provisioning, application service discovery and dynamic routing (service mesh) between our data centers and public cloud providers, platform-as-a-service abstractions, and self-service configuration of our production infrastructure.
Write high-quality, performant code that orchestrates the infrastructure to securely, quickly, and reliably serve millions of websites. Create, own, and operate important distributed systems that allow Squarespace to deploy code safely and quickly.
Share our on-call rotation and be an escalation point to assess complex problems in real time across our high-traffic software systems.
Lead by example and break down how you make decisions to help grow team members earlier in their career.
Who We're Looking For Programming experience in at least one compiled language (Go, Java, C++, Rust) and one dynamic language (Python, JavaScript, Ruby). The team writes tools and services in Go but knowledge is not a strict requirement.
3+ years of experience building large-scale software and distributed systems in *nix environments with technologies that power internal and public clouds: Kubernetes, VMware hypervisors, GCP/GKE, Terraform, Ansible.
2+ years of experience working with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation technology stack including Envoy and Prometheus, as well as other related technologies such as Grafana, Drone, or Hashicorp Vault.
