This role will be responsible for developing and identifying new and unique raw materials for the personal care industry. It is a key role in expanding the current portfolio under the guidance of the Personal Care Innovation Manager in line with the business strategy. The position will primarily involve lab work, testing and developing new ingredients in order to optimize cost, improve performance and deliver new solutions to meet market needs.Job DescriptionResponsibilitiesYou work within a team to provide guidance within the set strategy to generate new products that meet both customer and industry demands.You provide direction to process engineers in developing and implementing processes for the manufacture of new products developed in the laboratory.You will conduct bench scale experiments, 500g scale, necessary to develop new materials following good laboratory practices, and adhering to proper safety procedures.You identify and characterize inorganic and organic compounds to determine composition, physical and chemical properties and structure/performance relationships utilizing spectroscopic, chromatographic, thermal, microscopic and other analytical techniques.You lead multiple projects simultaneously within specified timelines and budgets to deliver successful outcomes.You perform an active role in new product brainstorming sessions with Marketing and R&D.You provide project updates and input on direction and interact with senior management and broad personal care team.Decision makingTypically, you have the authority to make decisions related to technical direction, methodologies, approaches and product development processes. You can also make decisions related to project execution, including timelines and milestones.
