Job Description Summary
The senior scientist for the adjacent market will drive the development of new segments in cooperation with the marketing department team. His technical expertise is needed to understand better and faster the needs to be successful in new segments. Designing and execution of proof of concept testing internal or external will be part of the position.

Responsibilities
Develop in cooperation with marketing strategies to learn and penetrate new segments (adjacent markets, e.g. Ceramics, Composites, Plastics, Dispersant for the Battery Market).
Identify, coordinate, and work with external research, academic and new venture partners to discover and present new technology and innovation platforms to the leadership team.
Design and execute needed studies for multiple projects simultaneously - internal or external - to collect scientific product data.
Perform an active role in new product brainstorming sessions with Marketing and R&D. Develop new concepts and present ideas to Marketing.
Review patent landscape to identify market launches and cross-industry inspiration.
Lead technical training for commercial teams, distributors, and customers.
Maintenance and set-up of application preparation and measurement equipment in accordance with existing ELEMENTIS HSE and lab instructions.
Decision Making
The preferred candidate would have the authority to make decisions related to experimental methodologies and formulation approaches.
Recommends training content, testing approaches, and methodologies.
Higher level approval required for non-budgetary resourcing and expenditures.

Position Requirements
Education: A degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, preferably Master of Science or PhD. Relevant areas are Organic chemistry, Polymer chemistry, Physical chemistry.
Experience: 5+ years if PhD degree, 10+ years if Bachelor's or Master's degree, of practical experience with customer collaboration/customer service. Technical Experience in targeting new segments. Experience in polymer synthesis is desirable but not required.
IT Skills: Microsoft Office, Presentation software, Project management software. Desirable: Salesforce, JDE, Experimental design, Rheocompas.
Language Skills: Fluent in spoken and written English.
Working Arrangements: 5 days a week on site.
Traveling Required: Up to 25% of travel required.
