Instructs, oversees, mentors, and trains other engineers.ABOUT THE SENIOR PRODUCT ENGINEERFunctions as a central engineering expert within and across business units for problem recognition, review, and resolution. Works with multi-disciplinary engineering, design, and marketing teams to solve difficult technical issues with a methodical, data-driven approach. Conduct root cause analysis using appropriate tools and methodologies. Conduct experiments and develop strategies that extend beyond known scientific and engineering precedents. Investigate and resolve system nonconformances, complaints, and emerging high-priority design issues. Identifies and initiates programs resulting in innovative applications of existing or new products or technologies. Understands internal and external customer needs and how to exceed their expectations. Maintains expert knowledge in current and novel technologies. Simplifies complex topics and communicates them effectively. Presents to cross-functional teams and management. Conducts risk analysis on projects and product designs. Leads engineering teams through demonstrated technical excellence and implementation of engineering best practices. Creates novel design solutions that expand the business's intellectual property. Ensures program objectives are met, and logistics are effectively coordinated. Instills decision-making based on objective engineering principles. Identifies, communicates, and mitigates risks. Ensures compliance with all applicable internal requirements and external regulations. Leads technical and design reviews or acts as an independent reviewer. Builds and maintains positive and cooperative relationships internally and externally.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS10+ years of relevant product development or R&D experience (preferably with consumer goods). Bachelor of Science or advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Systems, Mechanical, or Production Engineering. Advanced degree preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate throughout the organization. Strong history of cross-functional collaboration with other engineering disciplines. Demonstrated knowledge of risk management techniques and root cause investigation. Experience working on joint technical forums/councils in the development of industry standards.
