Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Metabolic Engineer to join our newly established Metabolic Engineering group at our Portuguese site. In this key role, you will act as a vital link between the established strains from our German site and contribute your unique development expertise. Your responsibilities will include articulating the group's projects, collaborating with academic institutions, and driving the reconstruction of existing metabolic pathways while pioneering new ones. Our goal is to expand our process portfolio and enhance production efficiency. Your contributions should lead to reliable, scalable production strains, along with patents and/or scientific publications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement known expression systems into appropriate chassis.
Contribute to the development of new expression systems for proprietary molecules.
Test and refine newly developed strains.
Articulate the metabolic engineering team's projects.
Coordinate with academic collaborators to facilitate research and development efforts.
Minimal Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant field.
Over 5 years of experience in metabolic engineering.
Strong research-oriented background.
Proficiency in heterologous gene expression.
Expertise in metabolic pathway reconstruction.
Desirable Experience:
Industrial experience is a plus.
Knowledge of oligosaccharide metabolism.
Understanding of sphingoid bases/ceramides metabolism.
Experience with genome sequencing.
