To know more about us Mission of the Role:
The Senior Embedded Software Engineer's primary mission is to lead software development and integration of ETK and other instrumentation features for Visteon's Electrification Products and support use of ETAS toolchains for OEM customer applications.
Key Objectives of this Role:
Lead, consult, specify and execute ECU tools-related system integration engineering projects to enhance the customers ECU development processes.
Specify software requirements, develop software architecture to enable efficient integration of ETK and other instrumentation features.
Lead development of rapid prototyping, virtual ECU models and support virtual ECU integration.
Lead software development and integration of ETK and other instrumentation features into Electrification ECUs.
Develop integration test plan and support validation of instrumentation features, rapid prototyping and virtual ECU models.
Acquire and maintain an expert level knowledge of ETAS & Vector products and customer processes and applications, with a focus on ECU instrumentation (test benches, measurement, and calibration, rapid prototyping, and debug tools) in order to execute and support engineering service projects or customers.
Lead and manage technical customer communication and interaction on ECU tools-related system integration projects including providing technical presentations, managing critical customer issues, and tracking open/closed action items.
Provide customer training and assist other engineers with applications know-how.
Key Performance Indicators:
Innovation and Adaptability: Evaluate the ability of the Software Engineer to introduce innovative solutions and adapt to newer technologies in instrumenting ECUs for development and calibration, rapid prototyping and virtual ECU integration.
System Performance: Assess the system's responsiveness and efficiency in handling various electrification processes. This KPI could be measured in terms of response times, throughput, or processing speed. Understand virtual ECU development, rapid prototyping, ETK and other instrumentation technologies and impact on the ECU performance.
Problem-solving and Troubleshooting: Software Engineers often encounter technical challenges during the development process. This KPI evaluates the engineer's ability to identify and resolve system-related issues promptly and efficiently.
Customer Satisfaction: Gather feedback from users or stakeholders to gauge their satisfaction with the ETK and other instrumentation tools integration, usability, and reliability.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Electrification projects usually involve cross-functional teams. This KPI assesses the engineer's ability to collaborate effectively with other team members, suppliers, customers, communicate ideas clearly, and contribute to the overall success of the project.
Qualification, Experience and Skills:
Must possess a BS degree in (EE, CE, CS, or ME) MS preferred, with a minimum of 5 years related experience.
Strong knowledge and experience in developing and debugging embedded control systems - hardware and/or software.
Experience in embedded software development in C is a must. Experience with Agile software development, change and configuration management.
Experience with ETAS and Vector tools, understanding of ASAP2 and other standards for instrumentation.
Experience with debugger tools such as Lauterbach, as well as other tools (xETK, fETK, VX1000, XPOD) and associated development tools (Inca, CANape).
Hands-on knowledge of vehicle electronics, vehicle communication buses and protocols (e.g., CAN, FlexRay, CCP, XCP, UDS, Ethernet), electrical systems, compilers, and the ability to specify instrumentation tool interface requirements based on microcontroller/ECU specifications.
Strong customer relationship management skills. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills are required, especially related to customer interaction and internal cross-functional teamwork.
These qualifications and deliverables are indicative and may vary based on the specific needs of the organization and the Embedded Software Engineer role.
