ABOUT THE JOB OPENING WE ARE LOOKING FOR SENIOR DATA ENGINEER TO JOIN OUR TEAM
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with hands-on experience in setting up a modern, cloud-based data platform. The ideal candidate has experience with Snowflake, DBT, and Airflow and has contributed to projects involving data platform implementations, even if not in a lead capacity. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing data workflows on the cloud, with a focus on scalability, cost-efficiency, and technical best practices.
YOU WILL Play an integral role in the setup, maintenance, and scaling of a modern cloud-based data platform, primarily utilizing: Snowflake for storage and compute; DBT as a coding framework for data transformation, with extensive SQL and/or Python experience; Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration and task scheduling; Industry-standard CI/CD tools, such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, or similar, to ensure reliable and streamlined code deployment. Utilize Terraform for Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to manage AWS resources (e.g., IAM, EC2, S3) (Preferred) Work alongside DevOps and other engineering teams to enhance infrastructure automation and promote best practices for IaC. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design efficient and scalable data models and ETL/ELT pipelines. Set up and manage a FinOps environment for comprehensive cost monitoring, optimization, and forecasting across cloud infrastructure, storage, and compute. Implement strategies to optimize cost across different environments and user bases, ensuring the data platform aligns with budgetary goals. Collaborate with stakeholders to establish a long-term technology roadmap that aligns with business and data strategies. Conduct periodic evaluations of current data technologies and recommend enhancements or new tools to improve efficiency and capability. YOU HAVE 5+ years of professional experience as a data engineer Proven experience in a data engineering role, with a significant stake in a cloud-based data platform project involving Snowflake, DBT, and Airflow Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and transformation; Familiarity with Python scripting is a plus Cloud Experience: Strong experience with AWS, with knowledge of infrastructure-as-code using Terraform (preferred) Familiarity with CI/CD best practices and experience with tools like Bitbucket and Jenkins Data Orchestration and Workflow Management: Experience setting up and managing Airflow for task orchestration Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on improving platform efficiency and reducing costs Effective communication with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Experience contributing to technology roadmaps and recommending new tools and best practices in the data domain Experience working against deadlines with commitments towards stakeholders Collaborative mindset and ability to work with cross-functional teams Empathy towards team members Commitment to transparency and open communication Strong written and oral communication skills in English WE HAVE An office in Porto downtown Full-time job + without term contract Health insurance 26 days of vacations Flexible work schedule and hybrid work model Professional development opportunities Trainings Collaborative and inclusive work environment Team events like summer parties, Christmas events and much more!
