Offer Description The Polytechnic of Leiria is now opening applications for 1 (one) scientific research fellowship within the project "Sustainable Stone by Portugal – Valorização da Pedra Natural para um futuro digital, sustentável e qualificado – Refª WP2 A2.4." This project is funded by European funds allocated to Portugal by the PRR, within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) of the European Union (EU), framed in the Next Generation EU, for the period 2021 – 2026.
Scientific Area: Materials Engineering and Chemical Engineering
Recipients: PhD students in Materials Engineering and Chemical Engineering, or holders of a Master's degree in Materials Engineering and Chemical Engineering who are enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree, in association with a Research Unit (UI), or graduates in Materials Engineering and Chemical Engineering who enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree, in association with a Research Unit. Preference is given to master's degree holders.
Work Plan: Study, development and characterization (rheological, etc.) of new sustainable and circular materials, through the incorporation of waste from the exploitation of the natural stone industry. Development of disruptive materials as raw materials in the construction materials sector. Design of an innovative product line with an enriched formula, conceived through the reuse and full valorization of fragments and sludge, currently considered production waste.
Workplace and Scientific Supervision: The work will be developed at the Centre for Rapid and Sustained Product Development from the Polytechnic of Leiria (CDRSP-PLeiria), under the supervision of P&D Professor Florindo José Mendes Gaspar.
Grant Financial Components: Monthly maintenance stipend of €1,259.64 to holders of a master's degree or €990.98 to holders of a bachelor's degree, according to the FCT Regulation for Studentships and Fellowships. Plus, if applicable, the monthly Voluntary Social Insurance, according to the conditions defined in the Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação, as well as the Personal Accident Insurance, during the research fellowship period.
Payment: The maintenance stipend will be monthly processed, through bank transfer, to the account identified by the research fellow.
Activity Scheme: Exclusivity, according to the applicable legislation.
Evaluation Panel: The jury responsible for the applications evaluation will be constituted by PhD Professors.

Selection Method and Evaluation Criteria: The evaluation will be made through curriculum analysis and possible interview, focusing on the merit of the candidate, where they will be considered and weighted according to the following:
Academic Qualification (AQ): final master grade or final graduate grade;
Professional/Academic Experience (PAE): Has excellent professional/academic experience – 20/20 points, Has very good professional/academic experience – 17 points, Has good professional/academic experience – 14 points, Has enough professional/academic experience – 10 points, Has insufficient professional/academic experience – 2 points, No mention of professional/academic practice – 0 points.
Specific Knowledge (SK): experience in the development and characterization of sustainable materials made from waste reuse: High knowledge – 15 points, Low level of knowledge – 5 points.
Candidates who, at the end of the assessment, obtain a classification of less than 9.5 will be excluded from the contest.
