Hapag-Lloyd is seeking an experienced and strategic Executive to lead our commercial efforts in Portugal. This senior-level role is integral to driving the company's ambitious growth objectives and expanding our market presence. The successful candidate will oversee the sales strategy, lead the sales team, and manage key client relationships to maximize revenue and profitability.
Responsibilities And Tasks
Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive sales strategies that align with Hapag-Lloyd's global and regional goals.
Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Steer Growth: Drive significant growth by identifying opportunities in key trade lanes, including the USA, Canada, Latin America, Africa, Mexico, Middle East, and India.
Key Account Management: Build and maintain relationships with major clients, ensuring exceptional service and customer satisfaction.
Market Analysis & Forecasting: Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, monitor competitor activity, and adjust strategies to maintain competitive advantage.
Sales Planning & Reporting: Oversee sales planning activities and ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and reporting of sales performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Trade Management, Customer Service, and Operations to align on business priorities and client solutions.
Negotiation & Contract Oversight: Lead high-value contract negotiations and oversee the entire sales contract lifecycle to ensure beneficial agreements.
CRM Oversight: Ensure that Salesforce and other CRM tools are effectively utilized for tracking sales activities and maintaining up-to-date records.
Feedback Loop: Provide strategic market feedback to the leadership team, contributing to overall business strategy and product development.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of senior-level sales leadership experience within the shipping, logistics, or supply chain industry.
Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in leading sales teams and achieving substantial revenue growth.
Education: Advanced degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related fields (MBA preferred).
Languages: Fluent in Portuguese and English; additional language skills are beneficial.
Skills: Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills. Strong negotiation abilities and a customer-focused mindset.
Technological Proficiency: Expertise with CRM platforms, particularly Salesforce, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Adaptability & Resilience: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Travel: Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings, conferences, and internal collaborations
