We are looking for Researcher in Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCA) (m/f) | Grijó to join our Direction of Investigação, Desenvolvimento e Inovação (I&Di) from Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade.

Summary:
The present notice is intended to fill one (1) post of a contract (Reference ISQ_CTI_11), under the Investimento RE-C05-i02 – Missão Interface N.º03/C05-i02/2022 Contrato de Financiamento de Beneficiário Final Financiamento Base – Centro de Tecnologia e Inovação, for the exercise of applied scientific research and innovation activities in the scientific area of: Environmental engineering, Chemical engineering, or related engineering areas. The work plan will focus on the development and application of life-cycle based sustainability assessment tools such as Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Costing to innovation projects in multidisciplinary fields supporting the increased adoption of environmental, economic and social sustainability metrics and the SSbD framework. The activities will involve the development of R&D projects, provision of services, and technology and knowledge transfer actions.
Admission Requirements:
National, foreign and stateless candidates may apply to the competition if they hold a MSc degree in Engineering Sciences: Environmental engineering, Chemical engineering, Mechanical engineering with background in Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental and Sustainability assessment, or a closely related field, and if they have a scientific and professional curriculum vitae that reveals a profile that is appropriate for the activity to be developed. If the MSc degree has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the respective registration or recognition formalities, which must be fulfilled by the date of hiring.
The activities will involve:
Conduct life cycle assessments (LCAs) of products, processes, or services using LCA software and standardized methodologies.
Collect and analyze data on material inputs, energy consumption, emissions, and waste generation throughout the product or process life cycle.
Interpret LCA results to identify environmental hotspots, assess overall environmental impacts, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Prepare LCA reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders and decision-makers.
Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in LCA methodology, data sources, and impact assessment tools.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications and skills:
Strong understanding of LCA methodology, including ISO 14040/44 standards and life cycle impact assessment techniques.
Proficiency in LCA software, such as SimaPro, Umberto, or OpenLCA.
Experience in inventory data collection, analysis, and interpretation for LCA studies.
Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards related to LCA and product environmental declarations (EPDs).
Experience in life cycle costing (LCC) and other sustainability assessment tools.
Familiarity with environmental impact assessment methods, such as carbon footprinting, water footprinting, Product environmental Footprint, eco-efficiency analysis.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in collaborative projects with Industry, in Research and Development and knowledge transfer.

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance:
The employee to be hired will be entitled to an employment contract with a fixed annual salary that can reach the level 32 of the Single Remuneration Table, in accordance with the Curriculum Vitae and the experience presented and proven.
Payment will be made by bank transfer.
Selection Method:
Curricular evaluation in which the following factors will be considered:
i) Relevance of the academic curriculum (40%);
ii) Relevant previous experience in the area of work foreseen in the work plan of this competition (40%).
iii) Other relevant merits (20%);
If the jury deems it necessary, the three candidates best ranked according to the previous criteria may be called for an interview. If the interview takes place, the percentage appreciation will be 90% for the curriculum evaluation and 10% for the interview.
