HyLab's final goal is to create a worldwide reference Research, Development and Innovation (R&D+I) cluster with a strategic agenda focused on strengthening hydrogen competitiveness and creation of new products and services.
Moreover, the HyLab will foster innovation, addressing the relevant supply chain components to enable a hydrogen-driven economy and to promote skilled and value-added job creation. It targets a gap between the academia and industrial ecosystems in the implementation of green hydrogen to boost the energy transition and to tackle the energy transition challenges, through the entire hydrogen value chain.
The HyLab involves valuable national and international R&D institutes, academia, industry companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and hydrogen-related technology manufacturing industries. We are looking for a Researcher, Expert in Life Cycle Assessment who will report to the Lead Research on the Sustainable Hydrogen Economy and will have the mission to elaborate Sustainability Analysis including Life Cycle Assessments, Life Cycle Costing and Social Life Cycle (including Labor) on support of several R&D projects focused on Green Hydrogen value chain, from production and storage to transport and end-use.You will be challenged with: Collaboration in R&D projects, associated to electrolyzes development and optimization, storage and transport of hydrogen as pure gas and as blend with NG, final delivery for domestic use, green hydrogen transformation into other energy carriers.
Cooperation with project partners and identified stakeholders to collect and elaborate technical data for constructing Life Cycle Inventory in the three pillars of sustainability (environmental, economic and social).
Definition and calculation of different scenarios.Elaboration of harmonized environmental, social and cost Life Cycle assessments using dedicated Software (SimaPro or Gabi), interpretation of the results, uncertainty analysis and final reportingPreparation of related project reports and support in preparation of Scientific Calls for funding acquisition (National, international and European Projects).
Participation in activities to disseminate the scientific knowledge produced (writing scientific articles, conference papers, presentations), participation in Master Students supervisionProvision of specialized services to industry in Life Cycle Assessments and related applications (i.e., Environmental Product Declaration)Who are we looking for: Master's degree in engineering, preferably in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Process Safety, or a related field.
Experience in Environmental Life Cycle Assessment, preferred experience in Social Life Cycle and Life Cycle Costing of industrial or multisectoral products and/or processes and circular economy strategies (relevant experience will be valued).SimaPro or Gabi expert, OpenLCA preferred.
Knowledge of AspenPlus and industrial processes modeling.Programming skills in MATLAB, Python, C++ are advantageous.Experience in industrial projects is preferred.
