A call for tenders is now open for the attribution of one Research Scholarship within the scope of the AWARE project: Aquaponics from WAstewater REclamation (GA 101084245). This scholarship is financed by European funds through the Horizon Europe – REA B2 program of the European Commission under the following conditions.
Scientific Area: Microbiology
Admission requirements: Applicants must be enrolled or commit to enrolling in a doctoral program in Microbiology or related areas. Candidates should have higher academic qualifications in Microbiology or related areas, demonstrate interest in the scientific area, and possess the ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. Good command of the English language and research experience in Environmental Microbiology and Molecular Biology are essential.
Work Plan:
Assess in silico the presence of important environmental antibiotic resistance carriers and genes related to acquired antibiotic resistance in aquaculture fish and water;
Explore the occurrence of the environmental antibiotic resistance carriers and genetic determinants identified in wild or aquaculture fish or in vegetables.
Workplace: The work will be developed at the CBQF - Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto, under the scientific supervision of Professora Doutora Celia Manaia.
Duration of the scholarship: The scholarship is expected to begin on 1st January 2025, with an initial duration of nine months on an exclusive basis. This grant may be renewed for an additional period, not exceeding the project's end date, scheduled for 31st October 2026.
Selection methods: Selection methods will include curricular evaluation (40%). The final decision may involve an interview with the best-positioned candidates, with weighting based on curriculum evaluation (35%), previous experience (50%), and selection interview (15%).
Form of advertising/notification of results: The jury will publish the ranking list of eligible candidates at the premises of the Portuguese Catholic University, with candidates notified of their position via email.
Complaint and appeal procedures: Candidates have ten working days to provide their opinion after the disclosure of results.
Deadline for acceptance of the scholarship: Selected candidates must confirm their availability within ten working days following notification of the grant award.
