Intro: iBET has an open position for a research fellowship in the field of Bioengineering available within the project ADDovenom: Novel Snakebite Therapy Platform of Unparalleled Efficacy, Safety and Affordability (Ref. 899670), financed by European funds.
Admission Requirements Academic degree – Master in Biological Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and related fields.
Bachelor's degree average equal to or greater than 15 (out of 20) and master's degree average equal to or greater than 17 (out of 20).
Experience in animal cell culture, preferably insect cells (e.g. Sf-9 and High Five) and mammalian cells (e.g. HEK293 and CHO).
Experience in cell culture, preferably in stirred systems (e.g. bioreactors).
Experience in recombinant protein production, preferably nanoparticles.
Experience in recombinant protein purification methods, preferably chromatography (e.g. affinity, ion exchange).
Experience in analytical methods, preferably SDS-PAGE, Western blot, MTT, PCR, ELISA, HPLC-SEC, DLS, and mass photometry.
Experience in data analysis using statistical tools.
Motivation for applied research and good teamwork skills will be valued.
Candidates with internships and/or periods abroad or in Portugal will be valued.
Excellent knowledge of English, spoken and written.
Work Plan Production of viral vectors and recombinant proteins in insect and/or mammalian cells, development of strategies for optimizing production and purification processes, and characterization of the final product using analytical techniques implemented in the laboratory.
Fellowship Duration The fellowship will have a duration of 3 months , eventually renewed until the end of the project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 of January of 2025 .
